Interesting thread; where's the George Godsey love? His career path appears to be NFL, but you never know. Maybe a few years down the road, he'll be ready for the relative security of being HC at his alma mater.
Rick Telander (former Northwestern football player, ironically) had an interesting solution in his book The Hundred Yard Lie: age group pro football. Players would 'age out' of the league at 25 or thereabouts, so an extraordinary 18-year old athlete could simply begin his pro career without...
Man, I never thought I'd want to track spring practice as much as I do this year. That's what a great season will do for your attitude.
Thanks to Eric and Company for providing us the info and this site.
I had a grade 2 sprain when I was 32; still couldn't run on the damn thing 5 months later! But I didn't do the intensive rehab I'm sure Kel is doing, and I'm no athlete, so I hope the 1 month time frame is more accurate for him.
Hated to see him get hurt - he might be our best frosh...
Regardless of the exact details, it's plain Hewitt's contract has put our men's hoops program into the dumpster for close to a decade. I see no evidence CBG is capable of turning the thing around, so the journey back to respectability can't begin until next year at the earliest. I would not...
Excellent work, especially pointing out the individual defender tendencies. I look forward to your analysis of the unbalanced line dives in the second half.
The unbalanced line dive play was devastating. You can really see it well on the skycam feed (ESPN3). And the midline play where JT turned a loss into a huge gain was priceless - provoked a collective 'ooooohh' you could hear plainly on that skycam feed. Folks, that feed is the best way I've...
Thanks for the heads up; I forgot to set the DVR before the game. Also, ESPN3 has a recording of the skycam feed - every play from behind and slightly above the offense. Great for seeing how our offense works. Would love it if someone could pull this recording and save it for the rest of us.
Every great team has its playmakers. Ours has PJ Davis and JT. Ain't life grand these days?
Which reminds me. If anyone wonders if success on the gridiron can have ancillary benefits, they shoulda been with me on my errands around Corpus Christi byGawd Texas the last couple of days. Had my...
I was surprised to read such a lengthy analysis of the SEC w/o the four nasty initials ESPN. But Boomer plays it straight and focuses his analysis on performance, so props to him for taking the high road.
The issue is really not the SEC's performance versus other conferences, the issue is...
This PR is pure gold and extends beyond the gridiron. All week, I've had people at work talk about the team and the offense, and ask me about the school. Puts a little swagger in your step. I guess these poor Texans can't wrap their minds around the idea you can kick butt on Saturday and...
This was a superb, inspiring win. We crawled out of more coffins than Dracula. And the meltdown on the Dwag section of secrant is beyond epic. One guy started a victory thread after the last UGa score, but before the kickoff. Hilarity ensues shortly thereafter. Go, and feast your eyes, my...
