It was the right call at the time and any halfway thinking fan would agree. If you didn't want to extend him, then he needed to be fired. You can't treat a HC like **** and then expect to go out and have your pick of the litter.

He was extended after the 14 season which was a great season. His contract was gonna expire in 16, so they had to do something with the way recruiting is.

Loyalty to assistant coaches is fairly typical among the coaching ranks, it's not just a Paul Johnson thing. It's one of the main reasons Head Coaches get fired every year.
