Most mainstream news in this country and around the world is intended (I believe) as propaganda so that the 99.99% of the public don't know what's really going on in the world. People are starting to see through it for the Pravda that it is. I remember Tom Brokaw, and I think Dan Rather...
This could be a separate thread of its own, but there are also few obscure players from years past who were pretty good. One of my favorite 'obscure' players was Nate Kelsey. He was a fullback, if I remember right. He scored his first touchdown against UGA in the Fog Bowl and later got hurt...
This is more subjective than anything else... An example: Lynn Swann is one of my favorite NFL players of all time, but is he one of the best ever? These are my personal Tech favorites, in any case...

Georgia Tech - 1965 Lincoln Continental (gold with white interior leather & suicide doors). Attractive, powerful, and a little on the stodgy side, yet somehow sleek and elegant and possessing timeless style. Kept nice by a jealous enthusiast owner/driver who rides around Atlanta with the top...
Here is a highlight video of the '76 season... (color quality is bad). I attended the Tulane and Virginia games that year. It was my first real season following the Jackets. That year we beat Notre Dame at home. There were a lot of other big names from that era, too: Drew Hill, Lucius...
I asked my dad last year why he didn't walk on at Tech (he was a freshman in '58). He was 6'1", 230lbs, fairly fit and athletic, plus he'd been in the Coast Guard for four years, so had 4 years of physical maturity over most of the freshmen. I was like, you could have played for Coach Dodd...
As a coach, Coach Johnson reminds me of a cross between Pepper Rodgers and Bobby Ross, if you ever could imagine such a thing. After tough games, Coach Ross would talk about "our kids fighting and fighting" to overcome adversity and win. Going back and watching some of those old post-game...
^ This. I think CPJ is as good a fit as any at Tech and I'd like to see him retire here. With the exception of a couple seasons, the D has primarily been the Achilles heel of Paul Johnson-coached teams. I don't know why the D has never really been consistent here under Coach Johnson, but you...
Though he flies mostly under the radar, Brad Stewart seems to make these clutch catches just when you need them. He made a couple big catches in the 2016 UGA game, both on the final two drives of that game, and he made the critical 4th-down catch in the 2015 win against FSU. Those are only two...
Interesting. The scuttlebutt around campus then was that they took an advanced type of algebra/trigonometry. I didn't rub shoulders much with mgmt. students, so only know what I'd always heard.
I don't have the documentation. My father attended Tech from the mid '50s through the early '60s and has said that calculus was required for all degrees then. When I was at Tech in the '80s/'90s, we in the College of Architecture only had to take two quarters of calculus, plus a quarter of...
Ross didn't win with Curry's recruits. 1990 was a breakout year because the freshmen they recruited in 1987 were finally maturing and coming into their own in '89 and '90. Ross and his staff arrived in 1987. Most of the impact players were recruited by Ross's staff.
Occasionally. But not consistently since Bobby Dodd retired. Bud Carson didn't have much success at Tech, nor did Bill Fulcher. Pepper Rodgers had a magnetic personality and recruited some great athletes. His defenses were very good, and he had some good QBs and offensive backs. But the...
Actually, you can go back to 1990. I didn't think much about it then, but looking back at the 1990 season under the Fridge, Tech actually ran a lot of option plays. Because of the pieces they had in place, it was more of a hybrid type of offense where they used a little pro-style, a little...
I don't know if you all remember, but on big plays, usually long running plays, Dooley could usually be seen running down the sideline cheering his team, 2-3 yards out onto the field of play. Half the team would be out across the sideline with him. I always wondered why they were never flagged...
I would love to see a video of a Johnson-coached Navy team playing Tech, but they never played against us while he was coaching Navy, at least not when he was HC. But he was OC there in '95 and '96. I think they came into Grant Field and beat us that year. Is there any film of the game out there?
There have been a couple games against UGA where bad calls by the refs helped them win. However, UGA fans always talk about how the '98 & '99 contests were basically handed to us by the refs and that the Bulldogs should have won both games. Quite a few of us thought Tech got away with a fumble...
Ticket prices used to be cheaper. Adjusted for inflation, I think they were still a lot cheaper than today. Concessions weren't nearly as expensive, either. And you could park in any one of the deserted lots around Midtown for about $5 or so.
I think ColoradoJacket hit the nail on the head...
