I think the only thing that would positively affect the situation is if a large body of alumni went to the school to express their support for the team and help get our team as many exceptions and resources as it wants. Put the ball squarely in our coach's court, otherwise holding him...
It's different kinds of "smart". Quick vs. Intelligent. They aren't mutually exclusive, but just because you're good in the classroom doesn't mean you'll be able to process what you're seeing on the field quickly enough to react (aka Football Instincts).
I don't think our offensive line will be consistent, but the new guys are much more talented and physically capable of executing our blocking scheme so even if they miss 9 times out of 10, that tenth will result in a big play.
Stylee, Vad was accurate if and when he stepped up. It's embarrassing that he wasn't coached to do that more consistently. I think people are still banking on his potential instead of the results because his problems were coachable.
I don't think this is true necessarily. I always found it much easier to take the snap under center because there were less variables in the timing of everything and the pass block angles/throwing lanes were generally better.
What this means, to me, is that JT is going to have to be more electric than anyone else we've seen in the Paul Johnson era if he wants to make it through this year.
What a ******... I honestly thought it looked like Vad didn't trust the system most of the year, but was hoping it would all click and that it was due to a nagging injury. I don't think this will make us a tremendously worse team, but it won't make us better and that's what we needed.
Is it worth it, though? How has Alabama's success furthered their academic mission? Even if it can be shown to be positive, is it reasonable to expect that we could ever achieve a consistent level of success simply by leveling the playing field?
Out of curiosity, why do you not think losing an assistant of his caliber has that much of an impact? Of our 5 offensive position coaches from the 2009 team, we lost 2 to head coaching positions and the third had "22 years as an option offensive line coach at the Division I level" to quote his...
Tevin improved so vastly in his time at Tech that I think he disproves your theory. If you had seen him in practice his redshirt year, you would never think he would play a snap at qb. His footwork improved every year in the option AND passing game, as well as his ability to make reads. I...
Depends how you measure it. Argument could be made for Stephen hill. Getting godhigh as a walkon could be another argument. I would argue uzzi as the best combination of highly rated, contribution to our school and recognized with awards. Gotsis is certainly the best "find"
Mack, who's to say we aren't asking this question. The answer we get in most of Georgia is "No". We aren't liked as a program by the teachers, coaches, and students. It's not just athletes. Our perception in our home state is one of contempt and dislike, whereas you ask someone in pretty much...
DL
Coach: Mike Pelton, First year at GT
Positives: Improvement in all facets of the game as the season progressed. Run defense.
Negatives: Diverse pass rush. Use of depth.
Summary: Gotsis and Attaochu really showed improvement throughout the year, that’s what happens when natural talent gets...
I figured I'd do a position by position breakdown of how our team did this year. I'm hoping it fosters some discussion on how everyone thinks we did as a whole and where on the team we need the most help, be it players or coaching. Of course, my general thoughts are that 7-6 leaves much to be...
