My brother in Christ, coaching in the NFL is a completely different game. Saban is the best coach in the history of college football and only lasted a year in the NFL. Spurrier was an NFL failure after being wildly successful at Florida and Duke.
Being a position coach in the NFL doesn't mean...
He has been a position coach almost exclusively and never a coordinator for more than a year... Sure, he's had a better coaching career then me, but I don't think it's something that would warrant a look as the HC here at Tech.
If the only reason a person is listed, is due to Tech connections, then maybe it's not a good person to look at. I loved Godsey when he played, but nothing he has done in coaching should warrant people wanting him every time we have an opening.
The reason he favored Odd fronts, and the reason that the Academies still do, IMO, is that DL players are the hardest to recruit and with Odd fronts you have less of them you have to find. Especially the space eating DT's, which might have the lowest supply of all positions.
Collins inability to do anything with the defense is probably the most damning thing against him. I expected the offense to struggle, but the defense has been a surprise.
I've always had a theory that a certain segment of the fan base hated CPJ because they couldn't talk about NFL players or other flashy things around the water cooler. That made them care more about optics and being able to talk ****, than caring about winning games.
This is an article from 2012, on the death of true option teams.

There is a quote from Holtz that I think is even more true now.
I think the change in the perimeter blocking rules won't help much either.
I think there are a few good options, pun intended. I like Mike Houston at ECU, Jamey Chadwell at Coastal Carolina, Dan Mullen would be interesting, I would love a guy like Malzahn. but he wouldn't leave UCF for Tech.
I think Monken would be interesting, but the optics would be impossible to...
Getting my 🍿 ready for when the Collins Kool Aid Crew come in and blame this on PJ, or the one I heard blame it on the fact that we don't have enough non-coaching staff. Not sure how that justifies the fact that the OL is no better in year 4 and Sims looks worse.
Didn't they get a satellite campus in Athens, at the old Navy Supply School? I've always felt that eventually uga will push to annex that and back door their way in to a Med school.
My Mom is a Southern grad, so that's where I fell in love with PJ. Adrian Peterson is still one of my favorite players. His run against Youngstown is amazing.
