    5Dimes: Odds to Win ACC

In my opinion that was the worst GT played all season. I think that almost any other week's GT team would have dominated them.

    5Dimes: Odds to Win ACC

Interesting that GT and Miami have the same Atlantic matchups: Clemson and FSU VT's are much easier with BC and NC State. UNC's are easy too, Wake Forest and NC State. It seems like the main contenders in Coastal should all have about the same chance. GT, VT, Miami and UNC. I still have...

He is at the Titans, not happening.

    So what coach interviewed today??

Yup, it doesn't seem like a great move at this point because of the turmoil there. But, if they offer a lot more money...

Attrition of '14: where are they now?

Custis and Anthonty Autry were there, but they were both being recruited as junior college players for the signing day.

Attrition of '14: where are they now?

Just curious. Where did they end up? I couldn't find info on all of them. Any I missed? Ty Griffin - Oregon Anthony Autry Myles Autry Travin Henry - still in school at GT Jimmie Kitchens - Youngstown State Morgan Bailey - got GT degree, spent last eligibility year at Coastal Carolina Anthony...

Travin Henry. Can he return for Spring Practice?

He is still in school. Good that he was working towards getting his degree.

    CFB Rules Changes

I think that rule change would hurt other offenses a lot more. For example the 'packaged play' concept. Good read and videos here: http://grantland.com/the-triangle/packaged-plays-and-the-newest-form-of-option-football/

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

IMO something not discussed much is how CO2 holds water in atmosphere, regardless of the warming effect, more water in atmosphere would have an effect on storms and especially amount of precipitation (summer or winter). I think this would be a good start for a new thread, but let's keep this...

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

It's a combination of more data and different algorithms. They have probably looked at effect sizes in their papers, but I haven't read them. All of this stuff is public though. I think it's NASA that chooses some of the stations, whereas Berkeley uses all the stations. Something like 5 times as...

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

Berkeley Earth is independent from NASA in terms of processing. In the figure I posted, he plotted NASA's raw and adjusted. In yours, he is plotting Berkeley Earth's raw and adjusted. Adjustment algorithms are different between the two, and Berkeley Earth uses more stations than NASA. That's...

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

Looks like Hausfather did what I was asking Homewood to do. He looked into the overall effect of the adjustments using the HadSST3 and GHCNv3 datasets. He found that past global average is not made cooler, but in fact warmer through the adjustments.

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

Here are the plots with the linear fits for Iceland stations with graphs in the article. They are not perfect, they could use some cleaning up, but it's using the time frame for the available raw data. I didn't choose any of the ranges, Matlab did it automatically. I called the adjusted data...

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

Ok, I do a Google search, and Homewood has the best explanation for the different sources of data: https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2015/02/01/how-to-access-giss-temperature-records/ It looks like Homewood is looking at something slightly different than I was looking at. I was...

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

In Appendix A, for Russia and Norway, he lists both adjusted and non-adjusted, so I figured it should be the exhaustive list of stations. Anyway, my point is there are a lot more stations in Iceland to look at. I am updating the plot I made above with linear fits and cleaner data. I just...

NOAA&NASA: 2014 Warmest Year on Record

I saw that on Stingtalk, and I would like to look deeper into it, because Arctic reconstruction is in fact a huge issue. I had a brief look, but Homewood's analysis seems to be lacking. Hopefully someone else will look deeper into it, maybe Hausfather or someone else. Copying from my Stingtalk...
