  1. Article Men's Basketball: Lamar Cardinals Preview

One thing I'm going to watch early on is AD's FG%. Last year he was slightly under 50% on 2FG (69-141). Playing more exclusively in the post (no Lammers), I would expect him to shoot closer to 60%. If he can do that reliably, it will force defense to play him more honestly, which...

Anyone surprised that Sidney was paid or that Stansbury pays players just isn't paying attention

Whiskey (add Clear as a second name to make it more obvious)

I agree 100% about exciting football being the key. I think time of day is less important (but not completely unimportant). The style of football CPJ plays can be fun to watch, but only if everything clicks. The last several years it's been a like watching paint dry and knowing the outcome...
  6. Merits of G-League vs. College Basketball

This will be very interesting. Lots of details still need to be ironed out, but definitely changes the game for schools that are used to recruiting the top 15 level kids. (And likely a trickle down impact on others as those schools start hunting kids they would never have touched before)

I love this thread...... "We need to spend more money on our football program!" "But screw TV. Let's play night games and forego TV revenue." "Oh. And let's piss all over the people who pay the most for their seats." You can't make this stuff up
  8. 2018-19 Preseason Thread

Will be very interested to see how much we push the tempo and spread the floor. If we get into a half court slow tempo game, we're not playing to our strengths. We had to do it the last two years due to Ben (and Q). This year, I hope we push tempo and extend our D to 3/4 court most of the...

I seriously doubt the AD would move the highest paying STH from midfield to the end zone. Do that and you lose every club member. I don't know the Tech Fund numbers for every section, but I would guess that those 4 club sections make up at least 40% of ticket revenue for football.

Only surprised Arizona hasn’t been more prominently involved

God help those guys if they're doping like Lance and they still look like old farts. ;)
  12. Arrests coming due to college bball kickbacks

Taking Pat Forde's word on anything related to Duke, Kansas or UNC is questionable. The man has been Kentucky's mouthpiece for at least a decade. He consistently says Kentucky doesn't cheat, Calipari is clean, etc. No clue what K was thinking with his bizarre denial of the obvious, but...

Saw the Pelicans waived Jarrett Jack today, too. :(
  14. Paul Johnson time frame.

CPJ since Gailey recruits left .... 4 winning seasons in 8 years. This year likely makes it 4 in 9 years. 59 - 51 in that time period 42- 50 if you toss out the "easy wins" (SC State, Middle TN State, Western Carolina, Elon, Furman etc.) I know he had a nice start when he had Gailey's...

They're called "facts" or "data" I know these have no place in @kg01 land, but that's your problem
  16. Arrests coming due to college bball kickbacks

So following the "logic" of the thread.... since UK, Louisville and UNC have all missed the tourney in past ten years (UK in 2009 & 2013. UNC in 2002, 2003 & 2010. Louisville in 2001, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2018) I guess the networks will pay about $4 for the rights fees next time around. Odd...

I found the SAT data for ACC schools as published by the National Center for Education Statistics. Still looking for the football and basketball versions Short version: Duke has highest SAT scores of any ACC school. Notre Dame second. Tech is third. UVA and BC are neck and neck for...

NCCAT sells out every round pretty much every year. Teams, broadcast staff and sponsors get about 80% of the tickets General public enters a lottery to get the remaining upper level, awful seats at high prices. Teams selected for a sub region or region have exactly $0 impact on ticket sales.
  19. Arrests coming due to college bball kickbacks

I believe the networks pay the NCAA a fixed amount of money for the tourney. The networks are the ones that have to sell the ads to ensure they make money. The ads are sold as much as five years in advance, so Kentucky missing the tourney a few years ago (or UNC in 2011 or Duke in 1995 or...
