  1. Tech vs. Louisville

Good point... you’re right. On a first down in bounds under the old rule, officials probably had signaled “ready for play” in about 10 seconds on big plays and even less on short one. It’s really not that big of a difference, to your point.
  2. Tech vs. Louisville

Let’s hope FAU is not such a darned good measuring stick for us this year!
  3. Tech vs. Louisville

Thanks for clarifying. So a first down running or passing is an additional 40 sec off the game clock (if the offense is choosing to run clock). The final 2 minute stoppage makes some sense, but its probably inconsequential given how fast a team can get to the final 2 minutes! Previous post I...
  4. Game one Uniforms vs Louisville

Yes... and for decades we’ve worked with visiting teams so we could wear white at home. We gave them a pass on playing at Bobby Dodd, they owe us a solid on jerseys!;)
  5. Game one Uniforms vs Louisville

Yeah.. how’d that happen?! If we gave up a home game for a neutral site, surely we could’ve made them wear red or black. :D Our combos should be GWG, WGW and on the very rare occasion, white pants, navy jersey, gold hat. If fabric tech catches up to where we can match helmets, I would love...
  6. Tech vs. Louisville

Is it a 40 second play clock after a first down? Imagine running another 40 seconds on every conversion... yikes!
  7. GOLD IS BACK ON THE MCCAMISH FLOOR!

THAT makes total sense! With teams gathering on the floor for time outs, I completely get it now.
  8. Tech vs. Louisville

And every fourth play gets replayed a half a dozen times, so it feels like you’re watching the same amount of football too
  9. GOLD IS BACK ON THE MCCAMISH FLOOR!

No, on the actual floor. It’s opposite the benches as well. It’s purpose was 5 second advance / delay in the days before shot clocks. I don’t think it has any purpose now. I think it’s just still around so we can tell stories about the guys who could “shoot it from the hash.” ETA— straining my...
  10. GOLD IS BACK ON THE MCCAMISH FLOOR!

On the sideline out of bounds, yes. The coaching box falls at the same location, but coaches are not allowed to be on the playing surface, so the box doesn’t extend to the floor. The hash mark on the playing surface predates the “coaching box” and serves no purpose that I know of now.... but it...
  11. GOLD IS BACK ON THE MCCAMISH FLOOR!

Don’t know why it just occurred to me, but I noticed that the sideline hash marks are restriped. To my knowledge, there are no longer any rules or reasons to necessitate the hash marks (Shot clock took care of the delay rule). Looking at courts all these years, I guess the hashes just look...
  12. Conference Realignment

Even with a week 1 loss, they still are a pretty good pick. Their schedule sets up ridiculously well. This has the potential to be a REALLY good looking win for us if we pull it off. Lville will be an 8-10 win team Their ACC schedule: @ GT (away game at neutral field) BC @ NCST @ Pitt Duke UVA...
  13. Tech vs. Louisville

To be fair, until the advent of the forward pass, it was just poor run defense.
  14. Conference Realignment

Thanks. That answers the whole scenario… I couldn’t figure out if the AAC had a GOR. If they don’t, that clarifies everything.
  15. Conference Realignment

Maybe just sloppily written, but this blurb is interesting to me... "For ESPN, the league would retain SMU’s broadcasting rights (it now owns the Mustangs' rights as part of the American Athletic Conference package) and regains the rights of Stanford and Cal.” With all the talk of GOR and what...
  16. Conference Realignment

Just because they don’t like it doesn’t necessarily give them a grievance to use in negotiations or thru legal channels The bylaws (to which they are also held) layout all of the parameters used for these decisions and as long as those bylaws are followed, no one can do much more than gripe...
  17. GT-UofL score predictions?

Indication from our camp is that we are going to sling it around. No reason to believe a Brohm team is going to grind it out on the ground. I anticipate plenty of opportunities for pass rush, and rather than WR, I think DL will be the key to the scoring. I suspect DL (for both) to be gassed...
  18. Conference Realignment

Not sure if this was intended as a response to my prior post, but no, no one thought the PAC would fall apart like this. Still not a reason to think the ACC will fall apart though, and certainly not in the near future. 2030-2031 is going to be crazy as everyone is working on their new deals. I...
  19. Conference Realignment

Agreed... My favorite part is how the reaction to all of the false reporting always signals the same conclusion... “the ACC is weak... life support... it will be torn apart...” I have yet to see anyone tell us how or admit that it’s virtually impossible for that to happen in the next 8-10 years.
  20. Conference Realignment

https://www.on3.com/news/big-12-no-intention-adding-pac-12-schools-cal-stanford-oreogn-state-washington-state/ Well, I guess the B12 just told the ACC, “take all the time you need...” Bad news for ORST, WASt and Cal....
