That is apparently a big part of the deal. Both Pastner and PJ want Nike. The Nike rep has been on campus the most and especially since Pastner took over. Seems like the $$$ from UA or Adidas wasn't enough to make a big difference. Of course that could change but a lot of smoke that it's now...
This post hits the nail on the head. Of course MJ was presumed starter but there is competition and race is closer than people think. What cracks me up is MJ family member saying to move Taquan to aback. Why- he is the guy pushing MJ the most. Regardless I trust CPJ to do what's best.
So we now have 6 scholarship players on current roster: Lammers, Okogie, Jackson, Moore, Ves, and AD. We have Alvarado and Haywood coming in. If Wright looks good in workouts he is a take. We desperately need to land Walker or Tucker. I see a couple of GT's too.
Lee is no longer undersized. Kid is a beast. Check out the tug of war clips from workouts. I think this O-Line is going to very good, especially the front line of Marshall, Bryan, Cooper, Braun, Lee
Alvarado is the real deal at PG and is a great ball handler. He does not turn the ball over very often. I think we get back into the NCAA tourney next year bc I am confident we close strong in recruiting and that includes grad transfers.
contract w/ Russell is up April of 2018, expect an announcement in early 2018. I don't see an early termination happening but if it did it would have to happen in next 2-3 months.
Both coaches prefer Nike but also understand that it is a $$$ game and so far Nike hasn't come to the table with enough. Despite what KQ has said, Under Armour is still very much in play from what I was told from rep.
I love the new rules and hope they move to these for regular season asap. With as bad as officiating has gotten in NCAA's it gets tiresome seeing free-throw fests from the 10 minute mark on in college hoops.
I posted on another board but Pastner is first class. On Saturday at the high school games at GT he greeted every team both girls and boys at the door and spoke for a few minutes to the teams and staffs. This guy gets it!
the beauty of this offense is teams get so worried about the cuts they clog the lane and it opens up outside shots. This is why we need shooters in a bad way.
I was glad to hear the espn guys calling out the officials. For the acc to have the best basketball, their officiating is suspect. One reason it is so difficult to win on the road in this league is all the home cooking.
