IMO Finateri is best suited for the Saturday role because he is the most likely of our pitchers to give us 6 innings. That lessens the load on the bullpen in the middle day of the series and allows more arms to be used on Friday and available again on Sunday knowing that not as many will be/were...

I was looking through some threads from this board last season, trying to remember what we were saying at this point last season. One of the posts was a prediction from Warren Nolan that Wake Forest was going to finish the season at 58-1 or some sort of number like that. I think it's safe to say...

    Non-Conference Portion of Season

I keep (and have been for a few years now, I'm a major nerd) a spreadsheet of my own stats where I throw out what I consider to be garbage time. Yes that means I threw out almost this entire past weekend. Anyway, on that spreadsheet I'm including the Friday UGa game since it really did happen. I...

I don't think we have been moving him back and forth. He pitched in relief against Radford, the rumor was that he had a bug of some sort and wasn't ready to function as a starter, but otherwise he has been the Friday starter in the next 3 series.

    Non-Conference Portion of Season

We have finished the non-conference weekend portion of the schedule. Every weekend from here on out will be ACC opponents. My thoughts so far: The Good: Drew Burress: Can he maintain some semblance of this performance in conference play? Aeden Finateri & Logan McGuire: Generally good. Neither...

9 run lead (12-3). But I was thinking more like last Sunday for us. 9-3 entering the 7th against our rivals...it is still hanging over us like a dark cloud.

Good point. He does provide a lot of cash, but does he bring good ideas? He is, as I understand it, the one who gave us Danny Borrell.

    Northeastern

There is always going to be a team like Northeastern, a fairly obscure program who hits on the right roster and has success for a year or two. They managed to put together a good roster last season and were able to bring most of that back this season. I wish them much success this season (mainly...

The top 12, meaning the bottom 2 schools stay home. Last year that was FSU and Louisville

I mostly agree. I agree that Hall will retire rather than be fired, but not certain he will retire on his own terms. He may be nudged strongly in that direction, but hopefully that will not be necessary. As to NIL, we may in fact lose a player or two to schools with a larger pile of cash, but...

Normally you wou Normally you wouldn't want to do that with 4 games scheduled for the weekend, but the chances of getting all four games in this weekend are small, so perhaps an option.

The main disagreement I had with CDH on Sunday is that I believe he pulled Ben King too quickly. I understand it is not good at all to walk the leadoff hitter in a inning in which you have a 6 run lead, but to me King is one of the top 2 bullpen arms and for him to be pulled after one mistake...

Resident weather man here 😁 Weather doesn't look good for tomorrow. Perhaps if they can start around noon or 1:00, but much later than that and weather will likely play a factor. At least the temps will be decent, unlike last Friday.

My thoughts cut and paste (with a couple small edits) from the chat room: Putting on my optimistic glasses, we appear to have a couple of good starting pitchers (Finateri & McGuire), with a couple others who I think are pretty good (Hill & Ballard). The offense appears to be pretty good, albeit...

If he were an SEC homer, he would be crowing about UGa taking the series from us. The fact that he didn't reinforces what L41k18 said, this wasn't a "huge" series as neither team is projected to be serious contenders.

It is now looking like the rain will mostly be cleared out by gametime. However, the field is going to take a lot of water in the hours prior to the game. How quickly can the field be drained and prepped? My guess is that it will be too wet, but it bears watching.

Nuke, I've been thinking the same. We've noted that our schedule will not lead to a strong RPI if coupled with just a .500 ACC record. Playing two games in Athens won't solve the problem, but it will help,.

I just watched the local weather on WSB, and their forecast gave the possibility that the rain would move through in the AM and early afternoon and may clear out by tomorrow evening. Perhaps we may be able to get the game in with just a bit of a delay. The temps will not be nice, but it may be...
