You might be right, but I'll give you a counterpoint. georgie has beaten one very good team (without their best player in the rematch) and one good team (Notre Dame, who was exposed by a Miami team that isn't as good as their record and Stanford IMHO). Missy State is their next best win and...
I totally understand, if Tech's out in any sport I quickly lose interest. The only quibble I have with your post is it's georgie and won't you be watching Oklahoma not them? ;)
I don't know where you're located physically but it does carry weight in the greater NY area as well as the Boston area. I'm in finance/real estate/alternative investments and it's well known to be a great school. Not sure how we play in Texas or CA though.
Boots, this is the truth. Anyone who doesn't recognize that it's a hurdle has their head in the sand. I've heard that exact sentiment from Mark Packer, Danny Kannell, and other hosts on Sirius. It doesn't mean that we can't recruit better, we do need to cast a wider net and try to improve...
All good points, um, @takethepoints (I honestly didn't intend that as I started typing). The only thing I'll point out is that Klock wanted to come back, but didn't get into grad school here. Oddly enough he got into a higher rated program @ Northwestern. So he was a Hill casualty.
Franklin did very well on the field at Vandy but they had a TON of off-the-field issues when he was there. So for me he's a pass (we couldn't outbid Penn State realistically anyway).
Thank you for posting this!!! WELL SAID.
I'm an alum, but the reason I pull for Tech is the way we do it. I'm proud of the young men that come out of our program, I'm proud of the way they represent themselves, I'm proud of the fact that they're getting degrees that are worth something.
To be fair to both they inherited empty closets. That said, you are correct and we weren't as consistent as some people would like to believe.
Regarding Lil Joe and the Fridge, if we had a decent defense that would've been a really special year. In 98 we lost to BC 41-31 (at home no less)...
Among others. @Buzzzard , that's an unfair statement. Just because someone speaks with an accent does not make them stupid. I'm with @RonJohn , I'm proud of our guys when they get in front of a microphone.
According to the participation report, he played. I admit I don't remember either but that might've had something to do with beverages. http://www.ramblinwreck.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2017-2018/gt102817.html#GAME.PRE
Yeah, Sirius is always the home team broadcast unless it's a huge game then they have both on different channels. The GT app is awesome though. Happy hunting!
Not athletic scholarships, but there is a ton of financial aid available. They just don't call it an athletic scholarship.
Regardless, it has to do with someone actually sticking with the 'academics matter' narrative.
While I totally agree with this, I will say it hurts less to lose a kid who says they care about academics to Harvard (or even Stanford for that matter) than it does to Alabama.
