Tonight’s game has been a great example of why I’m ready to see some sorta electronic balls and strikes calls. This ump’s strike zone has made no sense all game.
I’m at a “show me” point with Liberty Media. I’m not getting my hopes up about Kimbrel, Keuchel or any other pitcher that would require our ownership to pay real money or give up any real prospects.
I don’t know that Riley is that kinda base runner. That’s easier said than done in the majors. I’m more bothered that Ozzie ran right into an out. The play was right in front of him.
But Jackson started the inning by hitting a batter. That and walks is what will get you in trouble, especially late in a tight game. I agree that the 2 hits were bad bounces but if he retires the first guy, he probably gets the save with little to no drama involved.
Unless the pitching improves, I think the Braves will hang around the .500 mark all year. This Arizona series was a prime example of how you have to be able to win some 2-1 and 3-2 type games. I just don’t believe this current group of pitchers can sustain that thru the rest of the season.
