Caveat: I know very little about basketball, so I'll apologize if this question is dumb. Are PGs particularly hard to recruit? In short supply? Are other positions easier to recruit for/more good players in general available at the prep level? Iow is PG something like DT in football for us?

I agree with this 100%, with the sole caveat that the kid be able to do the work, even if with some help. I think you're doing the kid, the school, or your own family no favors if you're trying to shove a very square peg into a very round hole.
