Article Jackets Look to "Get Right" vs Clemson

You are exactly right about the strategy seeming to be, "just beat your man", specifically Banks and AD in the post. For the last several games, Pastner's stated strategy has been to "punch it down low". It's a fine strategy, but it can't be your only strategy. You have to be able to adapt if...

Article Jackets Look to "Get Right" vs Clemson

I felt the same way after the first half last night. AD and Banks are a good option to score in the post, but they aren't good enough to be the only option. And, I love the old school jump hook , but I felt that if we take the majority of our shots with our backs to the basket, opposing...

Article Jackets Look to "Get Right" vs Clemson

Missing 3’s is one thing; we are used to that. Missing easy bank shots from point blank range over and over again. Painful to watch. Has to be in these guys heads.

Article Jackets wrap up brutal stretch Saturday in Tallahassee

I see where you are coming from, but instead of deciding that Banks had won the 5 spot, basically benching AD, and continuing on with the 4 out, live by the 3 die by the 3 plan, I would have rather seen: 1) at least some more rotation between Banks and AD at the 5 since Banks has been sort of...

Article Jackets wrap up brutal stretch Saturday in Tallahassee

And it took until late in the season to realize that AD and Lammers could play together and both be better for it, just like this year with Banks and AD. I heard the announcers say during the FSU game that Banks and AD had only played together for something like 6.5 minutes before ACC play...

Article Jackets wrap up brutal stretch Saturday in Tallahassee

No, those are only the reasons that folks on here gave. The real reason was that Lammers was largely ineffective last year, he wasn't as strong a rim protector presence or low post scoring option as he had been the season before, probably at least partly due to his ankle injury, and his high...

Article Jackets wrap up brutal stretch Saturday in Tallahassee

Advanced statistics be damned, if you believe that Haywood is the second most valuable contributor on the team, that's insane. If Okogie was going to replace anyone of the 5 you named, it would (should) be Haywood and not Devoe. Haywood plays the passing lanes pretty well on defense, usually...

Yep. This year in particular, I think it was either: 1) a complete miss on evaluation of skills on the roster, or 2) code for, "We are probably screwed because we lost Lammers and Okogie. AD is ok, but c'mon, we don't actually think he is very good. Jose is too short to drive to the basket...

Well, we had to at least try... Way more embarrassing was the overwhelming TAR... HEELS chants in the second half from the majority UNC fans in our building.

Lammers was not as effective from the high post last year as he was the year before. I know he had an ankle injury all year last year, but that doesn't explain all of the ineffectiveness last year. Lammers' high post position moved further and further away from the basket last year. At times...

We are a terrible end of clock team. So, why the heck do we stand at the top of the key and dribble in place until there are 10 seconds left on the shot clock? Stupid.

I vote for blaming Adidas for the court, and while we are at it, can we get Jose some Nike's so maybe he will quit slipping and sliding all over the court, and maybe in a high top version so he will quit spraining his ankles all the time.

Definitely clogged toilet offense at times. The stuff we are running on offense is not high level stuff. We either get it into the post or we don't. Looking back, I can't believe cuse and especially ND let us feed the post the way we did. Then half the time when we get it into the post our...

    Gotta admit it...

I doubt we are going to see much of Shembari for the rest of the season. We are 20 games in and halfway through conference play, and he hasn't produced anything on the court when he has had chances. Pastner typically has not been keen to go deep into his bench and Shembari seems to be way down...

    ACC Discussion

You are right, this team would be very hard to beat if we could manage 10-12 turnovers per game. That would go a long way towards not giving our ACC opponents 15 shots per game more than we take. Unfortunately, this team could never get close to 10-12 turnovers per game. 10 would be top 10 in...

Fair enough. Ya'll are probably right that he just likes keeping things close to the vest when it comes to strategy, game planning, etc. but damn, he is like a ninja at not answering questions.

    Gotta admit it...

That is pretty funny. I would love it if Pastner would have called him on his BS. I think that's the question when Pastner went on to say it's not about the defense, it's about effort. I appreciate the sentiment, but it bores me to tears to hear this kind of stuff over and over from Pastner...

I'm bitc#ing about losing going away by 13 and basically being totally out of the game for the last 12 minutes despite playing pretty well like you said. We matched them in FG% and rebounding. They shot 9% from 3 PT, and we still lost handily. It's frustrating like I said.
