  1. 2021 ACC and Competition News

You are right about 2021 and Elliott's resume. Mostly. The flip side is that it is very difficult for an OC to operate without an offensive line and a frankly dreadful quarterback,. who is the Rex Barney of college football. I think he will get more credit in the rear view mirror.
  2. Attendance Down Significantly (AJC)

Blow off attendance of 31,000 at our peril. I remember clearly a rising tide against Paul Johnson based solely on attendance -- meaning tickets, parking, concessions, programs -- and Johnson never approached that number. For those who still think the ACC has some weight, note that mighty...
  3. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

none of that means diddly when your head ball coach is lost when in-game decisions must be made. He just looks lost.
  4. 4th & 18 or 19

I think we knew early on that Collins is not a game coach, as defined by tactical decisions made in the moment. It is hard to articulate without making comparisons, but: I thought Chan Gailey and in-game decisions were mortal enemies. Collins is approaching that threshhold. On the other hand...
  5. OC and DC replacement thoughts!!

Replace them, or Collins, with Homer Rice's statue.
  6. 4th & 18 or 19

No offense is made for third and long.
  7. OK, #BCvsGT Postgame. BC wins 41-30

keep tracking it. Collins will add to that.

one of the A&M Junction Boys I think. When his seat heats up you will hear him speaking differently. It makes a horse race but my memory is that it was said about Bear Bryant,.By whom I don't know. My favorite Bear Bryant-Dodd quote was that if he -- Bryant -- could prepare the team during...

I dare anybody to listen to Stallings talk for three sentences and not fall in love with his drawl. (Dabo, by the way, holds two coaching distinctions so far unique: he is directly in the coaching line to Bear Bryant -- Stallings the link -- and one of only two coaches to win a national...

The rate of decline improved dramatically the last two seasons....
  11. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

What am I missing here? We hire a head ball coach, pay him lots of money, presumably because that is the going rate for a winner, expect him to win, raise money, fly the flag ... and tell him he czn't hire his assistants because, again presumably, he ain't good enough? That coach needs to float...

Okay. You need to hire a welder. But I do remember Johnson making the "highly recommended" comment.

It would help if anybody knew what his "system" is. It sure does not involve game coaching.

When a coach starts to blame the press, even the innocuous, message board home town press, then it is the beginning of the end. It is interesting that after 20 years of the destruction of the community press, a football coach still finds a way.

Wasn't it even more telling that the conference punching bags never got that week ... only the good teams that had a chance?
  16. Geoff Collins Press Conference Post Miami

The guy needs to stick to coaching and leave the writing to the writers. It was a perfectly legitimate question and obviously Collins knew it. God GT has gone out and rented us a whiner.

Does the the University o f the Georgia Institute of Technology, or however it is referred to, offer any courses in logic?
  18. Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

That would be because teams endlessly were given a week to prepare for the option. It happened too often to be coincidental.
