In my mind, this seems like it is a “make or break” weekend for us. The following is how my mind would process various possible results:
Drop 3 and we sink to 5-7 in conference. Would cement in my mind that we are just average this year and give me basis for confirming my lowered...
RPI is still just goofy still. Norte dame @ 28 w an overall 12-9 record (4-5 in conf). Ugag @ 32 with 1-5 conf record. Xavier @ 20 w 11-12 record?
Just off the cuff I would guess we will underdogs against BC, UVA, and Miami. Favored against VT, Pitt. Toss up against UNC & DUKE.
Win...
Way to grind out a win, boys. I don’t remember a lot of recent games where we have been able to just keep grinding (as opposed to bludgeoning) for a come from behind win. The pitching & defense did enough to let us hang around until ‘gelo could rescue us. I think wiley said that’s the first...
And a walk off based loaded walk for Aubbie in the 11th. They said it was the 8th come from behind win for them this year but their first win in conference (only the second series though). Hate it for the dwags.
I sure hope it happens (this year). I suppose I am a bit of a pessimist when it comes to Tech athletics. You see "almost" taking 2 out of 3 from Louisville. I see losing 5 of our last 6.
I do agree that this team is a different team than last years team. Our sophomore pitchers are...
I am hoping we are able to take two this weekend. Honestly, I don’t see us making the NCAAs. The trajectory isn’t good, 5-7 since the UGA series.
Keep the expectations low and try and enjoy the ride.
Hope this doesn’t turn into a “settle for mediocracy” discussion. I mainly keep my...
Finley hasn’t gone past 5 in any of his stars (so far). So he does give us a better shot at GM 1, but not sure it helps the pen that much. Maybe save a long reliever but right now we don’t have one of those who are consistent anyway.
Anybody want to talk about this series? No game notes posted yet. Guess everyone is busy finishing off their brackets.
I don’t have any comments except Louisville has played some good competition and appear to be really good, and I think at this point, barring getting our injured pitchers...
How much does it hurt a guy not to have a 92-94 MPH fastball, all other things equal? If a pitcher has good secondary pitches and decent control, can they generally be successful with a 88-89MPH fastball?
If someone has good movement on an 89MPH FB, does it hurt them that much that it might...
Unless Hill and/or maguire return soon and are solid starters, I don’t believe we will be .500 in conference. We have 1 reliable starter.
Even if they both return soon I am not sure what evidence there is that they will meet the above description, but I sure hope they do.
Next weekend will...
