There have been many variations and uniform tweaks (mainly colors) over the years, but, they always looked like 'football uniforms'. The Russell designs looked like roller ball / power ranger / marvel comic costumes.

I think you are 'spot on'. I have been one of the biggest critics of the 'Russell contract era' unis and the reason is because of the Russell design, which has been just silly. Whoever designed them (I think it was a woman) made them look effeminate, quirky, the colors clashed and they just did...

I like them all. I'm a minimalist when it comes to football uniforms, I don't like to uniforms looking like billboards or rollerball unis. I bet if Russell will make identical replicas of these jerseys they will sell a ton of them. I'd buy one in a heartbeat.
