We're going through a bad time, but we can get through this. Even the successful Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs recovered from their dark days when they had attendance issues. We just need good management and win games again.

I agree that some can simply give up their scholarship and transfer without going through the portal, but when you've played football since grade school and your family, former coaches, teammates and even the community have backed you through the years, it's not that easy to just give up...
It's almost like the portal is a way for some football players to gracefully bow out of their football playing careers. Football can take a toll on your time and body.
