  1. 2024 Season

They have us in Coastal Carolina's bracket as the #3 seed. The mutts are the #2 seed. Honestly? Bring it. We owe them one. We could totally make it out of that regional.
  2. Miami Baseball

If the target is 6 more wins, the cleanest route is a sweep of Miami and 1-2 vs Duke, FSU, and Clemson. I like us to get to .500 or better, but sweeps are hard. I'm picking two here, and we show out against Duke.
  3. 2024 Season

Fair. I don't have an issue with RPI as a tool. I have an issue with how much weight it holds.
  4. 2024 Season

I don't mind RPI, as long as it's taken for what it is. Effectively a strength of schedule, but with extra steps. My problem is the committee/media seem to lean on it as the holy grail come selection time. It's one tool (of many) to evaluate the many teams that don't play each other.
  5. Auburn

Tough loss today. It got blown open in the first, but I still felt like the better team lost. It's baseball, I guess.
  6. #13 VT Baseball

Last year's pitching was very bad. We had a few shining stars, like Busse, but the team ERA was silly high.
  7. #13 VT Baseball

Completely agree. The defense and pitching on this year's team has been much better than years past. We've made some unfortunate errors, but the talent is there and it's been great. If we can keep the roster together, next season looks good. I'm more saying, I'd rather face a team with a...
  8. #13 VT Baseball

With this team, I like our odds in a shootout more than a pitchers duel. If I game is 10-10 in the 8th, I feel ok. 1-1 in the 8th, less so.
  9. #13 VT Baseball

This whole season has been full of swings. I think this team played a red-hot offense in VT, Saturday's game now withstanding. They weathered the storm well. If we can keep pace and avoid the sweep in C'ville, good. If we win the series, even better.
  10. #13 VT Baseball

    Well today was different.
  11. #13 VT Baseball

The hokies are playing solid baseball. The only really good team they've played was Wake, but otherwise they've beaten teams they should beat. We're probably one of those teams. But we have a little momentum, and they're coming off getting swept. It is at home, and the right guys are heating...
  12. Ga Southern

Man, it feels like the season just started. But it's about to ramp up, big time. OOC will be Kenn St, Auburn x2, and Mercer. If we can split Auburn and hold serve against the Georgia teams, that's a win in my book. Conference play is rough. 6 series, 5 of which are top 16. The exception is...
  13. Ga Southern

I'd argue that the status of the program when you took over only matters for so long. After 30 years, results are 100% his own, and the how the program was in 1994 doesn't really matter anymore.
  14. @Pitt Baseball

I agree with you, but this is the first ACC series for us that wasn't a sweep.
  15. @Pitt Baseball

I set the bar at 2-1 at home, 1-2 on the road. We're currently 1 under the goal. I know it's a good hokies team, but if this team is playing in June, we're going to need to hold serve at home.
  16. 2024 Season

I think inherently, a team full of transfers will take time to gel. The optimist in me will be forever waiting for that moment, but the realist in me will always be hesitant to buy in. The team is objectively talented. It's just a matter of when it all clicks. But if we lose the next 6 acc...
  17. @UNC Baseball

I agree - i thought the team has played well. We're a couple of timely hits away from a very different game. Leaving the bases loaded is tough. It's been, what, three straight games now? At some point one will break our way.
  18. @UNC Baseball

If our goal is .500 in conference play, we need to go 2-1 at home and 1-2 on the road, at a minimum. Our sweep last week put us ahead of the 8 ball, and salvaging the series tomorrow keeps us there. You can't win them all, but I hope to see good baseball even in the losses.
  19. @UNC Baseball

1130 will effectively eliminate the home field advantage. This series is winnable, and Friday's first pitch time is to out advantage, not theirs.
  20. @UNC Baseball

They have a pretty high RPI (#7), and a #20 SOS. It feels pretty meaningless, honestly. Their opponent's record is padded by playing ECU, where they lost the series, and a midweek game against Campbell. In ACC play, they beat a pretty bad Pitt team, and lost the series to Miami. You could...
