I imagine we're sticking with no divisions/pods, and the two teams with the highest conference win % play for it all. The games against ND (along with the bye weeks) can be used to offset the "odd man out" during conference play.

Something like this would be fine IMO. Bobby Dodd Stadium Presented by Hyundai is much more palatable than Hyundai Stadium.

The format HEAVILY favors top 8 seeds. 1-1 pool ties go to the winner. I'd say you're correct that its the security those teams feel.

We're going to need 7+ runs to win games against this team, and it'll be tough. I saw a recap of their Lville series last weekend, on the equivalent of From the Rumble Seat but for wahoos. All three of their starters went 6+, no walks. I was jealous just reading it.

Haha yes, I see how it has some value. But there's a difference between helping out the members of the conference, and producing a competitive and watchable conference tournament. As a sports fan, I hate it. As a tech fan (this season) I'll enjoy the benefits.

This is where the dumb format of the conference tourney may actually help...we realistically have 5 conference games left to boost RPI, and one will be against a top-4 seed.

I agree 100%. While getting swept was super disappointing, we can still pass them in the standings. I'll wait to see what happens today, but I wonder if 14-16 is good enough for the NCAAs if we make a little noise in the conference tourney.
