Offense was not as effective as we needed to win this game. Sustain two extra scoring drives in this game and we run away with this game. As it was, our defense was on the field way too much.
“95% of the time.”
You see the problem, right?
What happened in the other 5% of cases? You apparently assume that those represent wrong decisions. Perhaps they do, perhaps they don’t. I’ve heard many a coach say over the years that sometimes you make a decision because you know where...
When you’re twenty (you remember, right?) you don’t know you’re tired most of the times you are tired. You keep looking and acting the way you normally do but it’s little things that change. You forget an assignment, you stumble over something that you normally good negotiate blindfolded, you...
Without watching either of these games I at least know this. Getting “the right teams” in the playoffs is the number one objective in college sports now. Because, as they said last year, it’s about entertainment, and eyeballs (and money).
We looked tired from the beginning of the game to me. Running in quicksand, everyone a step slow, and one of our best OL getting knocked on his back by a player he probably outweighed by 70 pounds. We’ve gone from looking like one of the quickest teams in football to looking like we are playing...
You’re right. Of course.
It’s just a knee jerk reaction on my part given that the trend line many were expecting was all about the rich getting richer and the two “main” conferences, B1G and SEC, putting more and more distance between them and “lesser” conferences.
It kind of gives one hope...
A thought I’ve gone round and round with since before the FSU game is the age old question of whether you should schedule difficult games early or cup cakes. Lots of coaches like scheduling cup cakes early to get all the kinks worked out with their teams without tiring them out. Saban did this...
I got it right but not sure it means anything. I was just afraid of a tired team having to take another long trip to play against one of college football’s best QBs in front of fan base that is excited and believing in their team again.
I’m trying to decide if the irrational level of agitation with CBK is a symptom of Tech being competitive again and raising expectations or if it’s a function of some people not being sold on him as a coach and confirmation bias is setting in.
Kind of shocked by all this to be honest.
Well, that’s the advantage of second guessing. Nobody knows how it actually would have turned out. We needed one stop to get the ball back to King with timeouts left. We didn’t get that one stop.
