Oregon should be in the top five. I think they, like Alabama are slow starters this season. I have reasons but it’s long and complicated. I think there’s a good chance Alabama beats uga. But my top 3 teams are interchangeable at this point.
Pollsters have been pushing Ole Miss for three...
Maybe I miss heard but I thought I heard they were taking away the deep ball with double coverage. That doesn’t mean you can’t throw deep but it does mean there are times in a game when you might not risk it because an interception might be a turning point from which you can’t recover. Thus...
Me too.
I really thought we would lose this game but was hoping before the game that we could snatch a victory by hook or crook. It’s disappointing to me because a win would have set us up for a very special season but I just have to remember that 3-1 is exactly where I thought we would be...
I just hate it that the manufactured outrage seemed to work. Not sure how you defend against another team having extra motivation because of something they think you said. But, as I’ve alluded to before, if their coach acts this way after a win a loss could really make the program come unglued...
Just my uninformed opinion but here is how I would rate several of the teams receiving top 25 rankings.
Definite top 5 team or number 1 team:
Texas
Alabama
Georgia
Definite top 10 team:
Ohio State
Miami
USC
Tennessee
Underrated teams:
Oregon
Louisville
Boston College
Syracuse
Overrated...
Yeah, coach was pretty flat and somber about the loss. Totally transparent and didn’t try to gloss over the loss by talking about how hard the team is working, how well they are playing, or that “we are getting better and better if you have eyes to see it” like a certain former coach.
Duly noted.
I still think we may be a top 25 team. Unfortunately we may not know for certain until the end of the season. There is a lot of parity in football among teams in the 11-20 range rankings. So our difficult schedule will be a factor.
I believe you are correct on all counts here.
Since preseason rankings are never going away, I wonder if there is a way to encourage them to be a little less subjective? What we often see is “team B is missing a lot of key players from last year’s 8-4 record but because they have been highly...
I don’t disagree but “higher level” just means higher than where we’ve been. In my opinion, a majority of the 165 teams in football have a “porous” defense. I don’t even think every team in the top 10 has an elite defense. For most teams it comes down to matchups and whether you can control...
About 40 years ago I saw dozens and dozens of grand pianos on the stage at the same time at the Fox Theater in Atlanta playing classical music pieces. Seemed like they called it monster piano concert or something like that. Apparently it was a thing for a while.
What is considered a decent score on PFF grades?
I was curious to see two scores in particular, one on offense and one on defense. As I suspected, they were among the lowest which matches what I saw on some of the plays.
Be curious what others saw. I’m trying not to call out players by name...
As has been pointed out, Syracuse had a lot more tape on us than we had on them. They also probably didn’t show everything that had against Ohio. They certainly looked better prepared which is the first time in a long while that has happened since Key has been coach.
Assuming we best VMI 😳 the Louisville game will show us whether or not we have solved some matchup problems or whether we just don’t have the personnel this year to compete at a higher level.
