Sturdivant is shooting 33.3 compared to 32.1 last year and 33% the year before. However he is averaging just 1.8 3s per game compared to 3.4 last year. Part of that is playing time related as he's playing 24.7% less minutes, but that doesn't fully account for the 47.1% decrease in attempts...
I have never understood the "coaches know more so no point in having discussions about what they could have done different" arguments. Every coach makes mistakes pretty much every game. That includes the absolute best. And as a message board what is there to talk about after a loss if not...
You'd have a point if there was only room for one of them, or if Ndongo wasn't our only effective front court player despite us adding 6 of them in the offseason. Especially odd timing after our most current game. Lets look at how our other players did against Nevada
Tafara Gapare - 18...
That isn't how variance works. You need more than just the mean to determine that.
Taking each game as an individual data point (which yes has it's own issues but it's the quickest way to get a decent picture) we get the following for our team this year
for 2 point our fg% average is 47.15%...
Because to me it is incongruous to have a coach both have a quick trigger to pull a player for a missed shot and to play that player enough to have the second highest FGA per game on the team despite a bad shooting %. Typically a coach with a quick trigger to pull isn't going to keep putting...
This is an odd statement. In 19.3 minutes per game last year he shot 8 times per game which was second most on the team. That is 16.5 FGA per 40 minutes which led Florida last year. To compare, Kelly this year is leading our team at 19.2 FGA per 40 and second is Abram at 16.5. That doesn't...
You can have your own opinion on whether it's fair or not. You should be able to reach pretty much the same conclusion just by looking at our rank this year in those categories. I was responding to a comment stating we were better on both sides of the court than last year so it made sense to...
Then how do you reconcile the fact that our offense this year so far has worse efficiency, worse shooting, more turnovers, and fewer assists on a per possession basis with what you think you are seeing. Do you really believe it's just game after game of the entire team collectively shooting 30%...
Defensively we are better than last year both by the eye test but also most defensive stats. Offensively we clearly are worse than last year.
our Oeff this year is .967 compared to .991last year (ranked 239 this year)
FG% down 2.3% (ranked 313 this year)
3 FG% down 3.6% (ranked 281 this...
We have played 8 games. We shot 44.8% from 3 against 0-8 GSU. Otherwise our 3 point shooting performances are as follows
Howard we shot 22.2% from 3
Lowell we shot 20%
Cinci - we shot 29.4%
MSU - we shot 29.6%
Duke - we shot 30.4%
UGA - we shot 29.6%
Where are the good shooting nights?
We...
Yeah, in a style that doesn't suit them or their skill sets. That doesn't address the idea of having an offense more designed around their skills having more likely to have success this year.
Do you have the reading comprehension of a 2nd grader? The original poster said they had a great...
They were great against Duke.
Against MSU Ndongo was 1-7 for 2 points and George was 4-10 (0-3) for 11 points with 1 assist to 3 turnovers. I wouldn't really classify that as great. George was good and showed reasons to be excited for the freshman but Ndongo wasn't. Showed athleticism and a...
That sucked. Defense was good for the first 12 or so minutes but for the rest of the game gave up a pace that would put them at 90. Overall defensive shooting numbers aren't bad at 40/30. IMO our defensive numbers are likely a result somewhat of just trying to find any line up that could do...
Here is a link to an article from Kelly Quinlan. Appears to be a free article as I don't have any kind of subscription but can still see it.
"George reclassified from the 2023 class to the 2024 class and jump-started his recruitment with a strong summer gaining the attention of the Yellow...
I don't think that is true. My understanding is George spent one year in HS in canada and 3 in Arizona. He was originally class of '23. He reclassified to '24 to give himself a better chance to get noticed, and then went back on that decision when he committed to us.
