I would not criticize anyone in that situation. You break free on a run like that and you take it all the way. It looked like the game winner. Everyone wants that in their memory bank.
Our guys did not play as well last night as they did against Miami and it may be because NC State is not Miami. And we have uga coming up. You can't get sky high every week. Not surprised we had a bit of an emotional letdown as a 9-point favorite.
The whole SOS argument goes away if we beat uga next Friday night.
With the schedules setup the way they are, it takes OOC losses for the top teams to drop out. When the polls announce in the preseason that 8 SEC and 5 big schools are the best teams, and the only losses they have are to each...
It's interesting hearing football fans around eastern NC talking about football. From the perspective of a native North Carolinian this season has been a complete washout. The ACC teams, App State, and ECU have all been disappointing. Then there's the Panthers. I am not surprised the best NC...
More from my UNC neighbor:
"If the rich donors want a better team they can buy one. If they want a better coach they can pay Mack to leave, and pay Andy Reed to leave Kansas City and come to Chapel Hill. Everything in college football is possible if you have the money. For my money Mack is good...
Oh no!!! I think he's a great DC and should be considered for the HC job when Brown retires. He tackled the toughest rebuild in the history of college football prior helping restore the UNC program. He's the dude for the job.
This is why I don't think a big logjam at the top of the SEC isn't out of the question.
I believe all of those 2-loss teams are vulnerable in the last 2 weeks of the season. And I would not bet on any team right now to be its conference champ.
As I wrote earlier, A&M and Texas could both lose...
Agree that one will probably be in the CFP. But the BYU loss could push them out of the top 12-15. It is still very possible for unranked AZ State to win the B12. If Army plays ND a close game, then wins out they could be conference champs and ranked higher than AZ St.
Texas will be favored at home against Kentucky and A&M also at Auburn. But it's possible for one them to lose there and win later when they meet. That would give both two losses. uga has finished their SEC games. Tennessee has to play Vandy and Bama has to travel to Norman to play the Sooners...
New CFP forecast:
SEC
Although it isn't likely, the SEC could have six teams tied for 1st place after the A&M/Texas game.
LSU & Missouri are no longer part of the discussion. Yet, when uga was down yesterday the ESPN commentators were making the case for a 3-loss uga being in the playoffs. I...
Of course I never pull for uga, but there will be a measure of satisfaction if they beat Tennessee and create chaos at 2nd place in the SEC.
My 93 year old neighbor was just moved to Hospice. He is a USCe and NC State grad and wonderful man. I will be watching that game with him this afternoon...
I went through the hypothetical where uga beats Tenn and A&M beats Texas. If Tenn beats uga and Vandy they are in the CG. Whichever team wins the A&M/Texas game is in (assuming they win their other conference games). It gets sticky if uga beats Tenn and Texas beats A&M. uga, A&M, Bama, Miss...
Let's look at the B1G.
Indiana is undefeated, but their signature win is Nebraska. No, that's not right. They don't have a signature win. Their only tough game is coming up in 8 days @ Ohio St.
Oregon has beaten Boise St & Ohio St by a total of four points. No one else on their schedule...
In this scenario:
Texas' signature win early in the season was over Michigan, a team that is now scrambling to become bowl eligible at 6-6. Then they beat Oklahoma and everyone went gaga over the juggernaut from Austin. They lost to uga and beat Vandy, a team that had recently lost to Ga State...
