TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

One thing you are missing is that it isn't a proposed cap on NIL. It is a limit on what the schools can provide directly to the athletes. Athletes could still make whatever they can negotiate from collectives, or if they were using actual NIL, from people who want to advertise or promote. I...

    Conference Realignment

If you sign a contract to sell your house for $450k, and the buyer presents you with a check for $200k, do you negotiate a lower payment than the agreed to and contractually signed price? Or do you insist that the buyer pay you full price or return the house? If it goes to court, do you care...

    Conference Realignment

This was also published a few days after there was an article on the Rivals Clemson site that says pretty much the same things. I don't have access to that site, but that is the reactions I have read from people who have read it. I have gotten to the point with realignment and FSU/Clemson...

    Conference Realignment

What is Dellenger's source for that? The only "source" I have seen for such a belief is the FSU lawsuit. There hasn't been any other actual source for that. The lawsuit says that is the case, but only as a statement. It doesn't have any language nor any explanation about that claim. I won't...

Brian Kemp signs NIL --- Executive Order

This isn't a law. This is Kemp signing a paper and saying this is how he wants it to be. The is no such law, and no legal authority for him to do this.

Brian Kemp signs NIL --- Executive Order

That was my thought about it. I can tell my bank that my checking account has $10 billion in it. I could sign a"private party order" to that effect. The bank however would not agree with me. The governor not the President can simply order something with no legal authority to order it.

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

For former and current players. Can a class for a lawsuit include future people "harmed" by the actions of an entity? I dummy see how an agreement today between former athletes and the NCAA can include our be legally binding upon future athletes.

TN to add 'talent fee' to all tickets

'Caps' will have the same issues that caused the lawsuit. I don't see how an agreement to a current lawsuit can contractually limit future players. It will probably be litigated again at some point, unless there is a collective bargaining agreement with the players.

    VMI post game thread

As far as I remember for NCAA and NFL. High school used to be a spot foul even behind the line of scrimmage. It was possible to have a 20 yard net penalty for holding. High school changed the rule in 2023 to match NCAA.

    Conference Realignment

I think that is true. FSU however is trying to tip-toe a fine line. They want to be released from the ACC as of August 2023, but ONLY if the court finds in their favor for the exit fee and GOR. They are saying that they haven't left the ACC yet, but if the court finds in their favor they want...

    Conference Realignment

The ACC's argument is that according to the GOR, they would still own the copyright to any FSU sports content. ESPN would still broadcast FSU games. The ACC would still receive the media revenue for those games. However, if FSU leaves, then the ACC is under no legal obligation to pay FSU any...

    Conference Realignment

I agree with your reading of the GOR. However, the Clemson (and now FSU) argument to me seems to be along the lines of "It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is". They are trying to parse the words to mean that the rights are granted to current games for current members and past...

    Conference Realignment

In the Tampabay.com article linked in the tweet he responded to, it says that the argument is that the GOR includes all of the rights “necessary for the Conference to perform” the obligations of the ESPN contract. FSU is saying that if FSU is no longer a member of the ACC, then the rights to...

    Conference Realignment

That is the same argument that Clemson made in their lawsuit. I still haven't read the Clemson lawsuit, but my understanding of the reporting about it is that they are claiming that the wording can be taken to mean that the ACC owns the games played while being a member, but if they are no...

Music (??) at Bobby Dodd during game

My seats are not far from yours. I wonder if it is a big problem with the speakers, the speaker aiming, and the frequencies of the speakers/aiming. I complained a lot in the last couple of years because the mid-high frequencies were so loud that I almost had to cover my ears. I may have...

    AP Ranking

It isn't just FSU and Clemson. The Big12 has been on a large media blitz to hype their conference. If you pay attention to social media, it would appear that the Big12 is the 3rd conference by a large gap. If you look at any objective measure, they are 4th behind the ACC. However, they...

    FSU

I was wrong. Arizona started the year as #3 in 1999. They lost the first game to #4 Penn State. They won games 2&3. Lost Game 4. Then melted down at the end of the year and lost 4 of the last 5. I remembered that they melted down and thought it was at the beginning of the year, but it wasn't.

    FSU

Last year it was 8-0 vs 7-1. 6-2 might get it this year, but it would very likely depend on tie-breakers which nobody can really control. It will take a miracle at this point for them to be in Charlotte.
