Well as the game was not in doubt from the 2nd quarter it was a reasonable point to discuss. Louis Reddick (the color commentator) was very good about praising GT. Probably more praise than we deserved.
ND is a better team than GT in all three phases of the Game. That was known before the game. Take out our starting QB (20 starts) and replace him with a guy with 2 starts two years ago and you get an offense that was no match for the ND defense.
Our Defense is what it is, a slightly below...
Bennett generally did not recruit the type of player that would have generated huge NIL money to come to UVA. His program was base on good players developing over time and learn to play his defense.
That's fine. My point is he missed his gap which was the key reason Haynes was able to be sprung for the long TD run. The reason the defender missed the gap is and will always be unknown. The blocking was excellent as was the running. Rare to get a 68 yard run in that situation. Really fun...
I already said we blocked the play extremely well and Haynes made his cut at the precise moment the hole opened. Hand the UNC player missed his gap. That happens all the time in College Football. That he missed his gap is not throwing shade on GT. You have no clue as to why he missed his...
King is a good College QB. I will be surprised if he is an NFL QB. The leap from College to NFL for QB is huge. Glad he is our guy and hope he gets healthy soon!
Stopping the Run will be a challenge. Their RB, Tuten it the #3 rusher in the Country in yards per game at 125/game and he averages 7 yards per carry. That will be a big test for the defense,
I tend to believe the UNC guy who broke down the film in the video posted in this thread, It looked very clear the LB slid too wide on the play. There was an LB already in the gap he slid over to cover. Players have gap responsibilities. There are many times every game players don't fit...
Consistently missing open receivers when they are open behind the defense is a clear way to make scoring points much harder. We have seen that consistently this season. The QB needs to give his receivers an opportunity to make a play on the deep ball.
Interesting and in great contrast to going to a few ND games in South Bend 2007-2010, a couple non GT games. The ND ushers were beyond courteous and the ND fans tailgating were extremely welcoming to pretty much anyone going to the game. The ND fans in an Irish Pub after we beat the snot out of...
WE have lacked the explosive plays in the passing game for much of the season. It seems King has been off on his deep throws for most of the season. No idea why but when you miss those opportunities it becomes much harder to get points.
