Mostly “Fire Geoff Collins”, some reminiscing, maybe bourbon or other distractions

Well the Coastal is garbage this fall Yet you've managed to play losing ball And you can blame Geoff Or maybe the refs But I doubt it'd have happened to Paul **Edit: Whoops, this was supposed to be on the Limerick thread

    Who cares anymore?

There once was a Georgia Tech Jacket He never wore sleeves on his jacket It was too tough to watch Like a kick in the crotch I'd rather just stay in and ....jacket

Football nerd stuff. If you get a chance, watch Mississippi State play a couple of games

All, I have to push back pretty strongly on the notion that it would have been an easy transition from the flex option to the Air Raid. They're not at all alike in terms of execution. In terms of concepts, sure, and overarching notion, sure, but in terms of the skills required, and the bodies...

Football nerd stuff. If you get a chance, watch Mississippi State play a couple of games

I imagine they'd get along like peas and carrots. They've each heard "it's BS" so many times over the years that their only response is "ok motherf'er, if it's bs how come I just hung 45 on you with a bunch of 2 and 3 stars?"

Football nerd stuff. If you get a chance, watch Mississippi State play a couple of games

So, to clarify, I'm not advocating for the Air Raid, nor am I saying GT should have chosen an air raid coach. I was just saying it's a fun, interesting watch that you guys could probably appreciate more than most fanbases, because the idea behind it is similar to the idea behind an offense you...

Football nerd stuff. If you get a chance, watch Mississippi State play a couple of games

Even the numbers, underneath it. They run the hell out of the ball, it's just that they don't run it. Their RB swing pass is EXACTLY the same play as rocket toss, it's just a different play. It's just a forward pass instead of a backwards pass but it's to the same spot on the field, the only...

Football nerd stuff. If you get a chance, watch Mississippi State play a couple of games

I had long heard Paul Johnson talk about how much the Air Raid was like the Triple Option, and for my own team, I've cribbed some Air Raid concepts in the pass game, but I'd never really dug into the Air Raid as a whole offense until this year. Johnson's not wrong. Like, x's and o's, it...

If you're talking about handing to like an I-back, I agree with you. If you're talking about a fullback quick hitter, I disagree.

He'd be entitled to it. he's contributed a TON to this board over the years :)

Where do we go from here?

I believe Animal isn't speaking about Johnson, rather the opposite. He's saying that johnson succeeded IN SPITE of the fact that the money guys starved the program, and johnson was not able to hire as many staff as he wanted or the specific guys he wanted.

You think? If we're talking about a mesh, then we're talking about a read, and nobody reads on a tailback handoff from out of center. Further he was referencing the difference between the gun and the flexbone. @Ibeeballin feel free to correct me here if I'm misinterpreting you

Why has our defense been bad since 2008?

Because you recruit poorly, and it's WAY easier to scheme your way around talent on offense than it is on defense.

FWIW, under center mesh midpoint is roughly 1.5 yards from LOS. In this play, snap point was just short of the 30, midmesh is just past the 28.

    It's fine

FWIW, everybody is young. On ever message board I go to (and I go to a lot), I see "we're really young", but honestly, while some teams are a LITTLE younger than others, every single team has more underclassmen than upperclassmen. 1) Covid redshirt year means everybody is back a year 2)...

Where do we go from here?

I gently kid. Remember I root for UVa, where football scores are basketball scores, and basketball scores are football scores, and even Zima is a sin

Where do we go from here?

I will admit that I didn't believe that GT would be a 9 win program under Collins, but I have been proven wrong.

What GT Does - RPO (somewhat rehash)

The way that the rule changes have made the game of football SOOOO QB-centric is the worst part about the modern game, IMO. It's far less of a team game than it used to be, and it's VERY easy to identify a handful of rule changes that have made it so. They're not going to change back...

I'm not sure I buy that. IF you've played college football you've dealt with those a ton.

What GT Does - RPO (somewhat rehash)

Well, if my opponent starts walking F into the box to defend trips, he's putting himself in a VERY risky position. Yeah he'll stop this play, but the INSTANT I see a DC doing that, I've got 6 in my eyes.
