  1. National Signing Day Coverage

I don't know what to tell you. They are an enigma right now. 2019 they finished 2nd in the Coastal and managed to beat both Miami and UNC while we finished, understandably, last. This year they finished tied for 6th with Pitt and BC while we finished 11th. Fuente is on the hot seat because...
  2. National Signing Day Coverage

If we don't start winning games next year, it won't matter and no a top 3 or 4 recruiting class is still ranked in the bottom tier of the ACC and 46th in the country. Coach Collins has staked his success on the Flats on recruiting with special emphasis on metro Atlanta. Recruiting is the...
  3. National Signing Day Coverage

Um, there is a reason why we are ranked so low. Proof is in the pudding for both the portal guys and the freshmen. Plenty of opportunities to make a name for yourself unless you are a running back.
  4. ACC Discussion 2020

That seems about right but based on the two or three games I saw of the U and UNC, I would swap them in this ranking. I don't see why FSU is ranked ahead of us. We beat them and I was never impressed by them in watching their other games but maybe its just me. This conference gets more top...
  5. ACC Discussion 2020

There is no way of knowing what those teams are going to look like next year. They may be better or worse. We will see but Tech has to improve on both sides of the ball to have any hope of winning 5 much less 6 games next year. I am more concerned about getting the portal players squared away...
  6. National Signing Day Coverage

They have effectively left us in the dust. They will not be needing that portal except to fill what few needs they will have. Interesting you did not mention we have 1 four star in this class that is ranked 46th in the country and 11th in the ACC. No matter how you slice it, we cannot...
  7. Nate Woody . . .

Did not see that game but I do remember Zach Laskey, sorry Zach for not recalling your name a minute ago, catching a pass on a wheel route, the first play of the game against Virginia for a TD and no one touched him.
  8. Nate Woody . . .

I don;t remember him as an A back but yes he and the white guy whose name I forgot were a formidable duo at B back. He was another big man at B back also. I do remember him in mop up duty as a quarterback. A triple threat, as it were.
  9. Time to Bury the Asterisk?

SEC speed and "It just means more" or something.
  10. Nate Woody . . .

Coach Johnson was probably critical of his daughter's opera singing...I am kidding but yeah, you don't get the warm and fuzzy feelings with him.
  11. Nate Woody . . .

Anthony Allen was the only back, I can think of, that started at both A back and B back in his career. It is one thing to see 185lb Embrey Peeples (great player for us by the way) on the option pitch it is a whole different ball game to see big 230lb Ant rumbling then if you don't get him at...
  12. National Signing Day Coverage

With 11 four stars and a couple of five stars Miami does not need the portal. Bottom feeders have to use the portal but Tech has probably done a better job of using this new recruiting tool than just about anyone else. Whether it makes any difference in the loss column remains to be seen.
  13. Bowl Season 2020

That pretty much captures my attitude. I admit to wanting to see Georgia lose but other than that the bowl season is of no interest to me. IIWII
  14. Time to Bury the Asterisk?

More than likely with that schedule, it will be "bust". One could make a case for Tech to win only 3 games next year as UNC, Miami, Notre Dame, UGA, and Clemson are all looking like losses. If we can sweep Duke, Kennesaw, and Northern Illinois then we should get at least one more win if not...
  15. Time to Bury the Asterisk?

No they don't but with the transfers, the proof is in the pudding. They do not always pan out. We need just about all of them to live up their high school hype and expectations.
  16. Time to Bury the Asterisk?

Looks like it. I predicted 4 wins last year in the annual preseason poll. May stick with that or go up one. It is a very hard row to hoe for sure. Kind of similar to Coach Curry's first couple of years playing Alabama, UGA, Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, before we started the ACC slate...
  17. Time to Bury the Asterisk?

With the possible exception of UVA, I do not see a win in any of those but surely we can beat Kennesaw State and four of the other five? With that schedule five wins would be more than acceptable. If he were to win seven, Coach Collins would be crowned the King of the 404.
  18. Time to Bury the Asterisk?

It is Coach Collins great misfortune to be on the Flats at a time of renewal for both UNC and Miami. Of course, some would say that is balanced by the decline, relatively speaking, of UVA and Virginia Tech. Could have been worse, I suppose. He could have been born decades earlier and tried to...
  19. Time to Bury the Asterisk?

I don't know about asterisks. I do know that another 3 win season will cause the natives to become restless even the Tech brand natives which tend to be forgiving to football coaches. Not that it matters, given the financial situation it could be that TStan will ride this horse as far as he can.
  20. National Signing Day Coverage

To get away from girl friends and the police I would imagine. Miami, being Miami, is always a hotbed of controversy and athletes with their feelings hurt about something or another.
