Yes, well, rule one in college football is win games.
rule two is see rule one. If I were those guys, I would go slinking out of sight with my tail between my legs because they have created a situation that has the possibility of taking a decade to clean up similar to what has happened with...
Well, my point was that Collins, like Chan, seems to have put all his chips on Sims. Personally, I would tweak the offense a bit to run more, more option type plays that Yates is comfortable with executing. Yates biggest drawback seems to be throwing the ball deep but he makes quick decisions...
Worst loss of this era? Hard to say. Clemson was bad to be sure and embarrassing to boot. The thing about comparing this one to the Citadel is that Northern Illinois clearly has more talent and is more physical than the Citadel was and we looked much worse in that game IMHO. If Jeff is...
NIU deserved to win. They were well prepared, had a gutsy quarterback who made plays and were clearly tougher on the lines. Very disappointing but about what you can expect from Collins. This may be the final nail in the coffin at the end of the year but his buyout will probably save him.
Won't happen this year or even next year. Coach Collins has a big decision to make: Yates or Sims? Sims has the bigger arm, is a better runner and better athlete but Yates MOVES the team and makes far quicker decisions. He can do what he wants as coach but if it were me, I would play Yates...
Well, Cumberland and General Custer probably felt the same way... a few turnovers, a couple of helpful penalties, some opening day jitters by the home team... who knows? Sure it could happen but I still believe that the Huskies are not very good even by the modest standards of the MAC and Tech...
I say, with the certainty of someone with no skin in the game, that if Tech does not win by three touchdowns or more there is something amiss. Northern Illinois is considered at or near the bottom of the MAC, did not win a game last year, and is counting on a slew of transfers.
CFN just came out with their prediction on this game and it was close to what you said. They put Tech as being two touchdowns better, somewhat under the 18 point spread. Frankly, if this team is within two touchdowns of Tech, we have problems. CFN seems to believe that the uncertainty lies...
Pepper might have been better off "rehabilitating" his relationship with alumni and donors but that was probably a lost cause and he was not responsible for the facilities and academic restrictions. Under the circumstances, he might have done about as well as anyone.
I understand your concerns but the comparisons do not seem legit to me. Martinez is a senior and has started for three years. Jeff was thrown into the fire as a freshman and shows tremendous upside. Coach Collins' fate rests more on line play on both sides of the ball than on who is playing...
Interesting but if you are playing Alabama and getting run slap dab over then you better believe interior line play matters on defense. In college, shutting down the run to force a one dimensional offense is job one for any defensive coordinator, I would think. As for "the best interior run...
Never mind, another senior moment, Minihan started last year at center. Good to see Kenny is healthy again and ready to go. I feel much better about the offensive line than the defense but we will see.
Perhaps, someone addressed this in the post but I seem to recall Cooper playing center last year and earlier in his career but maybe I am getting him mixed up with someone else.
