Tonight I watched both the UNC game and the Syracuse game for Virginia Tech. It was like watching two different teams. The Hokies played great defense against Sam Howell and UNC with press man to man on the outside that just locked down the Tar Heel receivers. They were not near as effective...

Nope. We should put the final nail in Fuentes' coffin. We can move the ball and they struggle to get first downs. Coach Thacker needs to get his guys ready to play. It is not like we have to stop them on every possession.

Point taken. The announcers felt it was incidental and not in the spirit of what the penalty is supposed to prevent. We had a 13-0 lead in the first quarter and let it get away from us. UVA scored on every possession but two, I think. That is what lost us the game not penalties.

I think most people are saying 5 wins but I am sticking with my preseason projection of 4 wins. IF we beat the Hokies next week, then we will probably win 5, perhaps even 6. Lose next week and it is hard to see much more than four wins.

That is true but UVA would appear to have a better line for pass blocking. If I were a pro team drafting one or the other, it would be Pickett all the way.

Not that it really matters in the final analysis but college football news in their weekly ACC picks predicted UVA to win and cover...just barely with a predicted score of 33-24. The silver lining is that this is the kind of game score that gives us a chance to steal it in the fourth quarter...

I think this is going to be an interesting matchup and a game worth watching late into the 4th quarter.
