The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

    That is 100% factually incorrect.

What I'll miss about Tech football … and what I hope to see

No offense is predicated on just "out-athleting" the defenders. Where do you guys get this stuff?

The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

Obviously there were no Gailey players on the 2014 team. I didn't think that needed to be spelled out. There were also no Gailey players on the following teams: 2012: 5-7 against the FBS 2013: 5-6 against the FBS 2015: 2-9 against the FBS (B*** L****-esque) 2016: 8-4 against the FBS (the other...

I thought I was the one who was cherry picking? That year was clearly an outlier. Look at the numbers. He had a losing record vs teams featuring the same number of scholarship players without Gaileys recruits. That is not good no matter how you try to spin it.

The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

Not even remotely true. OP trashed our fourth best coach to prop up mediocrity. I shudder to imagine where this program ends up if GOL didn’t save it.

    OC Hire

He’s actually not a bad OC. Missouri scored more, gained more, and RUSHED for more on Ugag than we did.

The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

Losing records are CPJ’s domain. Gailey was 7-5 with a bowl loss like clockwork.

The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

CPJ got boat-raced by MTSU at home. He lost to a Kansas team that was coming off a loss to an FCS. He lost to the worst Tennessee team of all-time. One of his best teams cam within a whisker of losing to G-W. That wake forest team was way better than any of those.

Two good seasons out of seven. 39-35 record. 33-35 against FBS competition without them. Couldn’t even reach the Chan Gailey Equilibrium.

The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

2008-09 were probably the most talented Tech Teams since 2000. Maybe the most talent since 1990. Who knows what Gailey would’ve done with them. Nesbitt was used like Justin Fields his freshman year by gailey. Not sure where you’re getting this TE crap from. CPJ faced significantly easier uga...

The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

No I’m saying that’s silly to say a coach is lesser because he makes great hires. That is literally the coach’s job. CPJs inability to hire a good DC is an indictment of his coaching ability. Johnson never attracted anywhere near the coaching. Staff that GOL did.

How Good Was Coach Johnson at Tech?

No scandals? We had an ACC championship vacated. Was it for a stupid reason? Sure. Was it a scandal? Yes.

The cold hard facts of GT Offense, Defense, Head Coaches

George O’Leary won a fiesta bowl at UCF. He won 8 or more games there seven different seasons. He won a National Championship as a Defensive Coordinator. Evaluating him on the pre-Fridge years is silly given what he pulled our program out of. If we’re gonna say O’Leary was nothing without...

Who was the best DC in Coach Johnson’s tenure?

    2002: #27 2003: #27 2004: #23 2005: #22 2006: #27 2007: #21 Pretty decent stretch. CPJ ruined an amazing defense just like Chan ruined an amazing offense.

Great breakdown of Geoff Collins defensive schemes

Outside of the high fours and fives I think recruiting rankings are dubious. Comparing across eras is also dubious. Rankings have been inflated. A good example of the inflation would be that Guyton was allegedly the 59th best OLB as a recruit with that score. Nealy was 56th with his score...

Great breakdown of Geoff Collins defensive schemes

I think it's safe to say our LB talent over the past 11 years was somewhere between below average and mediocre. We were basically Linebacker U and CPJ pissed that away.

Compare that to the 11 years before that: Sedric Griffin Brad Jefferson Gary Guyton Philip Wheeler KaMichael Hall Gerris Wilkinson Key Fox Daryl Smith Recardo Wimbush Matt Miller Matt Uremovich Delaunta Cameron Ron Rogers Keith Brooking Night and day. Probably 8 guys from the previous 11 years...

How 'Should' Tech Do in Recruiting Rank - Analysis

Who wouldn't love the offense when you are scoring 40ppg and smashing the competition? CPJ was basically coaching an FCS version of Bama except instead of playing the FCS version of the SEC he was playing tiny private schools, military academies, and suitcase colleges that didn't give a flip...
