  1. Syracuse Post Game

I understand your caution but they are nowhere near as good as The Citadel was that year. I go to church with a fellow who is a VMI alumnus and he said that recruiting gets harder and harder with each passing year. They do have a quarterback who is accurate given time but the offensive line is...
  2. Syracuse Post Game

Stinger posted that he thought it was some kind of 3-3-5 with three safeties in a cover 3 with a linebacker on the running back. Don't know but it worked in denying Tech the deep pass for a while.
  3. Syracuse Post Game

We got beat pretty bad statistically but came within a missed field goal and a 3rd and 10 stop of winning a game we did not deserve to win. So, it looked bad until the fourth quarter.
  4. Syracuse Post Game

Gee 57, don't you know by now that beating a post to death is what we do around here?
  5. Syracuse Post Game

Good question but as someone else noted, throwing deep into 8 man coverage is not going to work most of the time. What is disappointing is that we could not run the ball against a 3 man line and they managed to put a little pressure on Haynes. IIWII
  6. Syracuse Post Game

I thought he was tough as nails, could fill a hole with the best of them but was too slow. Effords is not great on pass coverage but he is faster than Ron was. Both were and are good players for Georgia Tech and we should be proud that they wore and wear the Gold and White. God bless them.
  7. Syracuse Post Game

I don't consider myself "chicken little" It is not the sky that is falling it is a defense that gave up over 500 yards total offense to a team that struggled to beat Ohio.
  8. Syracuse Post Game

Thank you very much...what does thinking binary mean? Anyway, this defense is still bad against any quarterback behind a decent offensive line and good receivers to work with.
  9. Syracuse Post Game

Improve the defense...a lot and I will cease being a "defeatist attitude" fan. I do not claim to be knowledgeable but it doesn't take a Nick Saban to see giving a good quarterback a clean pocket time after time is not a going to win many games.
  10. Syracuse Post Game

Lo and behold, with more time on my hands than is wise. I actually watched about 20 minutes of VMI vs. William and Mary. The Tribe's best play and there were lots of them was the quick smoke route and the bubble screen. Worked for them. VMI is really bad this year. Undersized on both lines...
  11. Syracuse Post Game

I would not bet on our defense if they were playing Slippery Rock. Hyperbole, I know but any team with a capable quarterback that has good receivers is going to cause us lots of problems. Losing that end to the portal..."Kennard"? is a killer. That guy made plays all season long.
  12. Syracuse Post Game

True. It could not have been worse. The Orange was on pace to get just over 600 yards total offense at half time and finished with over 500 instead. They were up by 17 early in the fourth quarter and damn near gave that game away to a wholly undeserving Tech team. It would have served them...
  13. Syracuse Post Game

Sure he was cool, he had a clean pocket for most of the game as we were apparently in a soft zone. 2nd and 22 I would have brought the house and see just how cool he was then.
  14. Syracuse Post Game

No, I take "higher level" to be well within the top 25. In other words elite factory powerhouses looking to make the playoffs and the factory wannabes. We are a long way from those lofty standards. A long way. The offense is capable but not elite. Special teams are capable but not elite...
  15. Syracuse Post Game

He might be scared if on 2nd and 22 he sees Efford coming at him full bore...that should frighten any quarterback. I would have taken the penalty put them on the 14 and brought the house on second down.
  16. Syracuse Post Game

I don't believe we do have the necessary personnel but maybe they will bounce back against Louisville. I just don't think a team with a porous defense can be labeled as being at a "higher level".
  17. Syracuse Post Game

That is a measured and optimistic take but ignores the fact that all of those teams were a lot better than this one.
  18. Syracuse Post Game

I understand Stinger but disagree. 2nd and 22 from your own 14 will give any quarterback pause especially if the other team brings the blitz.
  19. Syracuse Post Game

Go away Buzz. All this arguing is what makes it fun to be a fan. Its like that old Charlie Brown cartoon where he is playing cops and robbers with his buddies and Lucy observes that he really likes the game and Charlie replies I hate the game its the arguing I like (arguing about whether...
  20. Syracuse Post Game

We are not in "serious trouble" just facing the same dilemma as a lot of teams with capable offenses that look like gangbusters for long stretches but ultimately undone by poor defense. The difference between the "Haves" in college football now and the "Have nots" (that's us) is DEFENSE.
