There is one aspect I have not seen discussed in this long thread.
Does moving a game to another stadium help the team win? Some of the former players might chime in here because in my opinion, part of the home field advantage is the comfort of being in your own surroundings and normal...
I may have missed it, but other than an "ahem" from Stansbury, how much money does MBS pay Tech to play? Is it $1 or $50M? Anyone know what the payout was for the Tech vs UT game?
I agree this is thinking outside the box. If it really does help recruiting my personal opinion does not matter...
I hope you are correct.
I would like to know who came up with this idea and exactly what the difference in pay out is at Da Benz versus BDS. My opinion, whatever that amount is, not worth it.
One part of the equation I have not seen identified is the total number of alumni in the donor chain. I would think you would factor out the number of alumni outside the nation since I do not think they are major contributors. (Although I could be wrong on this one). Which would leave the...
I think this "elite status" extremely subjective, but I see it as a recruiting tool. Sell the school as elite. That can include the past, the academics of the institute and location.
And to get out from under the wet blanket, I truly believe Tech can be elite again.
Concerning fact or hype about Tech being an elite program.
One could argue Tech has fallen from the elite rankings. Us old guys remember some of the glory days but I doubt the millennials see Tech as an elite program. As well as current recruits.
Same could be said about other programs...
This is on the wall in the man cave. I kept all of the ticket stubs during the 1990 season. Obviously did not know the outcome of the season when doing so. I cobbled this together in 1990 and have not tried to make it any prettier since.
But this one means a lot to me. Note: I even went to...
Wes is the best...
I am sure Wes still loves the Jackets. I was part of a conversation with Wes after a recent basketball game and he spoke well of the institute. Doubt there is much Tech could do to get him back in the fold tho.
I recall a game where Charlie Rogers returned a punt for a TD...
Agree with that, but I personally enjoyed the Saturday games more. A great excuse to eat at the V. Could never get down early enough for the Friday games. There is nothing better than a peach pie!
I sat in flash cards my junior and senior years. Nothing but a bunch of drunk fraternity boys. But a rowdy crowd.
The swarm in the south endzone seems to be something we could encourage. Those guys enjoy the experience.
This is a tough crowd.
O'Leary and Fridgen contributed more to the institute than all of us posters combined. Brilliant defensive and offensive coaches. Should be in the college football hall of fame as coordinators.
Glad to see the excitement is carrying over to ticket sales.
I will be 34 years in the East Upper Deck. Now in 224. I'm the old guy in a white Tech hat yelling at the refs. ; )
I never understood having the spring game on a Friday night. Getting to Grant Field on a Friday night is a nightmare traffic wise for locals, forget having some in the vicinity making it to the game.
My expectation is a Saturday game with some sort of different entertainment than what we have...
