    Justin Thomas will try out for the 49ers

    JT will look to join Smelter as a WR in SF. It looks like they've got a vision for him as a slot receiver, but he doesn't have a contract yet, just an invitation to try out for the team. He's definitely got the skills to make it, but there's obviously going to be a learning curve given the fact...

    GT@Home vs Belmont

    I would love to have had another shot at uGA, but I'm glad we are playing at home. Belmont is 9th overall in 3pt FGs per game. We've actually had halfway decent 3pt FG defense (91st overall). They seem to live or die on their shooting, so here's to hoping the McCamish Maniacs can throw them off.

    national coach of the year

    I can't see the national COTY award going to a coach that's not in the dance. My guess is that it goes to whoever goes farthest in the tournament between Sean Miller, Mark Few, Scott Drew, Steve Alford, Chris Holtmann, Bob Huggins, and Greg McDermott.

    ACCT - Pittsburgh - 3/7 7PM

    I may have read it backwards. I just took a quick glance and had some preconceptions. Wouldn't be the first time I've misread something...

    Postseason Chances?

    They wouldn't leave the ACC Coach of the Year out of the NCAA Tournament, would they? Has a team with an 8-10 conference record ever gotten in? My guess is that even if some have, they probably had better OOC credentials than us. With that said, if we can beat Pitt and UVA, I think we're...

    ACCT - Pittsburgh - 3/7 7PM

    Looks like we are 1.5pt favorites right now. Neither of us have been very good away from home, so I'm not setting any expectations for us. Pitt does have the advantage of already having played some neutral site games -- at least I guess that's an advantage. Even if we pull the win, I don't...

    ACC Discussion

    There are a lot of D2 coaches that could be successful in a major program if they had a chance. I think of schools like West Liberty or Bellarmine that make the D2 Elite Eight almost every year. West Liberty, for example, runs a fast paced offense that scores 100pts a game -- they specifically...

    @Miami

    I agree with this completely, but I also agree with Cuse. I don't think it decided the game. We were playing sluggish, and when you do that, you begin to reach and press in ways that might make the refs a little more whistle-prone. On offense, it looks like you got trapped in the lane, and on...

    @Miami

    Anytime you get outrebounded by double digits, give up 55% FGs, and only get to the FT line 3 times, you can bet you were playing sluggish. The good news is that, even playing that way, we were never really out of the game until the last couple minutes -- and we beat the spread again. Hopefully...

    @Miami

    Injuries sting more when you're a team with no depth. I think Lammers and Okogie could play with a nagging injury and still give us quality minutes over their replacements, but Stephens is one of those players that needs to be healthy to be effective. He's a skill player that isn't naturally...

    Why do we stay with Russell Athletic?

    I love UA, but I'm afraid their brand is a phase. If it's between them and Adidas, I'd prefer Adidas just because they've got longevity as a top tier athletic apparel company. If we were reconsidering contracts on a yearly basis, I'd be OK with UA right now, but UA may have already seen its best...

    Braves trade for Brandon Phillips

    I don't think 76 wins is optimistic, maybe realistic, but 76 wins would feel like a disappointment to my B+ blood. We went 31-25 after the trade deadline last year, and I think we've got a better roster now than we did then. There are still a lot of IFs for this team, but I don't even think...

    Braves trade for Brandon Phillips

    Phillips passed his physical. He will have a no-trade clause with Atlanta, so we won't likely have the option to flip him mid-season for prospects. From what I have seen, the Reds will receive 27-year-old LHP Andrew McKirahan and 29-year-old RHP Carlos Portuondo. I'm good with that. I doubt any...

    Braves trade for Brandon Phillips

    Apparently, the names of the minor leaguers we're sending to the Reds won't be released until after Phillips passes his physical. At least now I can slow down from refreshing my twitter lists every 2 minutes for an update. I just hope we're not giving up anyone with a high ceiling.
