Don't think anyone is off the Zach train. Dude is a dog and for him to help beat the mutts sounds fantastic.
I know I’m a curmudgeon when it comes to such things… and despite my knowing how it is used in todays vernacular, I can’t get on board with calling guys “dog” as a compliment.
I guess the spelling matters but still cringey. Just me?

This is so funny because I have to admit that there are times when, especially as it pertains to GT players and coaches, I sometimes cringe as well. But I've taken that on as a "me" issue and I tend to ignore the "dawg" aspect of it and just take it as the compliment it's intended to be.

From a longer range view ( approx 1000 miles) it looks like we have great news, and not so great news.
1)The good/great news is our QBs play all out, giving everything on every play. They are great teammates and leaders. They literally have to be made to leave the field at times.
2) The not so great news is that because of #1, they are a lot more prone to injury. The jury is still out on Philo , but I am willing to bet he will be the same. Love the mentality, but it comes with considerable risk. IIWII.

I do think there may be some merit in using Pyron as sort of a hybrid Wildcat-Joker type player like how the Saints use Taysom Hill. Hill is listed at 6’2” 220, and Pyron is listed at 6’3” 220, so the build is there but Pyron would need to learn how to block to be truly effective. Hill can line up in any skill position on any given down and distance, and his presence on the field is enough to force defenses to account for him and the different looks he can provide. Hill averages roughly 5 carries, 1 receiving target, and 1 pass attempt per game, while also playing special teams. When he is on the field for a punt, the opposing team cannot get comfortable as a fake could come at anytime. I know Pyron has covered at least 1 punt this year and maybe more, having him on special teams opens the door for many different looks.

I don’t know if it would be possible to get as much production out of Pyron as a hybrid player as the Saints do with Hill, but I do know it would be fun to watch.
Probably the best take I have seen on this board over the past year. Would bring tremendous options to the table for the Jackets. Now, f he could just line up under center on 3rd and 1 ....

There are people referred to as dog, but when referring to those people in that town located in Clark County, it's spelled dwag. I'm getting tired of correcting you people ...DWAG!

With regards to Philo, he definitely came up limping during the Miami game, but never seemed deterred or scared. I specifically remember seeming him limping pretty badly after a great scramble at one point.

Seems like toughness is something we're consistently recruiting and cultivating these days.

This is such a weird question, and a bunch of predictably weird non-answers.

First of all, ZP is a tough dude and a baller. I like the guy. That being said, ZP is a qb, and at GT right now that means he is a backup qb. Thats not because he is injured, that’s because Haynes King. And in case y’all haven’t noticed, ZP is currently the 3rd string qb, not the 2nd string qb, and I don’t think that’s because of injury either, I think that’s because Philo.

Barring injury to the other two qb’s, if ZP wants to start, I doubt if a position change is a realistic option to achieve that goal. He will probably have to go elsewhere to play qb.

This style offense has chewed up rb room and qb room.

It needs a qb that is a real threat to run. Philo nor Pyron are not nearly as fast as king = everyone is in the box - hoping they run..

Next year with King 100% and gt continuing to focus on winning not stats, both pyron and philo will be a lot better and get shots.

Imo, the qb room needs to get old and stay old.

That starts next year

Yes! We should be playing 3 qb’s the rest of the season- bring in Pyron for an under center power I short yardage package, throw in some option, rocket toss, double option runs, etc

Shame on me. You are absolutely correct. Consider me sufficiently and justifiably rebuked. :shame:

"Getting old and staying old" is an antiquated way of looking at CFB. The game has changed. Players want to play NOW or they're gone. I'm actually concerned about HK coming back. Philo wants to play and I'm not sure he'll be too happy about waiting another year. He's the future, not HK nor ZP. We cannot afford to lose him. We cannot squander this opportunity. Its great to have "grinders", "tough", and "hard-nosed" players, as frequently described here, but we need a great, accurate, fundamentally sound, quick diagnosing QB to make an actual difference.

I have been watching GT FB not quite as long as you but when I was on campus you could get a chili slaw dog, an order of fries and a can of Budweiser for $.95. Used to eat this meal nightly in the front room by North Ave. after studying while watching the Johnny Carson show. WTBS, never in my entire lifetime have we had 3 QB's of this caliber on the team at the same time. Never. These are the good ol' days in this regard.

This is a thread on Pyron. Get old stay old in Qb room is what i said.

I had pre miami game tailgate shrimp with stockton and philo parents. They love gt and their sons love qb room.
Told them when philo and "stockton" are in game at same time - be watching for a timing pass. Miami coach is a dud. King said in post game - Philo is going to be a baller. On the pass to lane - philos first td pass- he read it perfectly and threw of back foot without set up- a dime. The safety in middle busted the coverage.
Zach had to try to be King at ND. Coaches shemed up some plays for philo i n Miami.
Philo is going to grow into a good qb.
A good qb room that grows together WILL ATTRACT 1 OR 2 GREAT WR.

Key has a plan
