Sometimes even the smartest kids struggle the first year. They were able to get by in HS with minimal effort. It is easy to fall into a trap in college when the pace is so much greater and falling behind can happen so quickly that you just can't pull it out at the end. Learning how to study effectively is so important and not falling behind is absolutely a necessity.
