I would like to give a special shoutout to Shawn Davis. This man has been through amazing things.
- Comes to GT as a walk on kicker. No expectations.
- Somehow wins the starting job. Then, in his first game, he has a rough one against Tennessee.
- Makes his next two field goals, then tears his ACL against Miami.
- Recovers very quickly for an ACL injury, and AGAIN wins the kicking job over a scholarship kicker.
- Misses an XP against Alcorn and has a rough game against USF on kickoffs.

All of this, and today he was really good. Kicking is very mental, and he is showing a tough mentality. He had all touchbacks today, and a really good onside kick. I know this thread may seem pointless, but we only really mention the kickers in a negative light. Good game Shawn, keep up the good work!

That 52 yrd FG wasn't even close. I am beginning to think it's more mental now. Not sure who works with the kids on technique but sometimes it's simple adjustments that can restore confidence. If anyone should know this it is PJ.

Kicking is VERY mental. They are like streaky 3 point shooting specialists. Get rattled, and they can miss 9 of 10. Get in a confident rhythm and they can hit 10 straight.

Or we could just crap on our players for every single bad thing they did! The whole board is negativity right now, yourself included. Just trying to keep an upbeat attitude.

There's a reason everyone is pissed. Davis has been serviceable at best.

The body language I see on the field is not good. I think the opponent sees this too and thinks “blood in the water”. We need to fake it until we make it.

I recall another Tech team that was reeling from a couple of unexpected losses and was facing a very good Clemson team coming to BDSHGF. As GT was preparing to take the field behind the wreck, unexpectedly and suddenly the rats ran down to the field lining up all the way across the field to the GT sideline, cheering the team on their way to take the field.

The upperclassmen chanted “Damn good rats!” and the fired up team beat Clemson in a hard fought battle. The team gave the game ball to the student body and it stayed in the trophy case in the student center for decades, may still be there, I don’t know.

This began the tradition of rats on the field. Sadly, the tradition was ended a few years ago. Do we even have rats anymore? Regardless, it would be nice if somehow the students would demonstrate support for the team to help their confidence.

Wouldn’t hurt for alumni and fans to show some support as well.

Coaches come and go. I'm over the HC, but GT and the players should ALWAYS have our support.

Even though I think it's time for a change, I dont' wish any ill will on the team and I definitely do not want them to do bad on Saturdays just so we change the HC. That's just dumb and not a what a fan should do. IF CPJ can turn it around great...GT fans should be happy because GT and the players are doing well. IF CPJ can't turn it around, hopefully it'll be addressed after the season.
