In honor of HATE WEEK, share your story about when you knew you HATED that school in Athens (aside from your birthright)... here's mine

I always knew I had a love for GT. I grew up in East ATL and went to school in Buckhead. My school bus would pass GT every day for 13 years; so I knew that was my favorite school. But my HATRED of that school in Athen was solidified when that school chose Jasper Sanks over Jamal Lewis. Granted, I had an up close view of JL because Douglass was in our region and I played against him for 3 years. But I knew that he was the best RB in the state and it really pissed me off that UGag would go waaaaay to Columbus to get target Sanks than to target the local kid in Lewis. (I do love Sanks for fumbling the ball into the endzone though)....I have always been a fan of GT but from that moment I knew that I literally HATED that school in Athens.

My hatred for UGA went into full affect in the late 90's and early 2000's watching Joe Ham and Godsey in those matchups. I really learned a true disdain when i was in school there 04' to 07'. I hated sitting in class with the players, I hated how they acted, I hated the sight of Matt Stafford my last semester. I reveled every time they lost. Good Lord I really dislike everything they represent. Sorry for the rant

Freshman year (68) at gt. My eight grade hs FB coach and family friend tried in vain to talk me into uga. Chose gt. When we lost he would call and bark into the phone. Reminded him he was barking into the phone of an 18 year old. That when it started.

2006. I was a young GT fan attending the game with a UGA buddy and his dad. GT took a lead into the 3rd and the defense was playing lights out. Reggie gets tackled, resulting in a scrum. Tony Taylor emerges from the pile an ETERNITY later for the go-ahead score. Tech ultimately lost 15-12 on the road.

Fast forward to 2014. We are about to go up by 2 scores. JT pushes forward trying to get into the endzone, the play stalls, but no whistle is blown. Next thing you know, Damian Swann is escorted down the sideline for a free (and arguably unearned) 99-yard TD, resulting in a 14-point swing. It brought me back to 2006, and my hate for UGAg reached an all-time high that day. Luckily, we won that one!

The '78 game. My date (now wife) was at Uga so we attended together. That is the game that Eddie Lee Ivery was intentionally hurt. I saw how their fans reacted to that and lost any respect for them I might have had prior to that game.

Around that time, me and my roommate who I met in Techwood dorm went to the Uga BB at the McMammary. Don't recall who won that game but we were jawing with a bunch of Uga fans (students) afterwards when things got out of hand. It turned into a 10 on 2 brawl, with us being on the low end number wise. My roommate spent the night at the hospital that night with a concussion and several other injuries. I didn't mind losing a fight at the time as that was most often the typical outcome for me but the numbers thing always disturbed me. I tell myself that if there had only been 8 the outcome would have been different. However Ma Tech had prepared me to always expect the shaft in life no matter what.;)

In the mid 50s, my sister was dating a Tech student, and I fell in love with the team because of him. When we lost in '57, I was devastated, and it was made worse because a girl I was extremely fond of picked on me about the Tech loss. I have hated the mutts ever since, although the hatred didn't really solidify itself so much until I was a freshman in '62. I have utterly loathed and despised everything about the cesspool ever since.

Believe it was the ‘72 game when one of the morons tossed a beer bottle from the railroad tracks and hit a lady wearing a yellow sweater in the head. Won’t go into the gory details, but thankfully I was wearing two shirts that day so one could be used as a tourniquet when she went down.

It started for me in 1980 when I heard about Jan Kemp and uGA players cheating their way to a national title. I was a big Pitt fan growing up south of Pittsburgh and my hatred grew in 1981 and was so happy when Marino and Pitt beat them in the Sugar Bowl. Then I went to Tech in 1986 and the rest if THWg history.

At 3, my dad taught me the Tech fight song (don’t judge; the clean version). Always knew I was going to Tech, but the dislike of UGA seemed mostly in fun, especially as a Tech student because I was there in 1990...National Championships kind of make the bad guys not so awful. And baseball and basketball were top of their game as well. I left Atlanta in 1993 to go to grad school in TN...so UGA was no longer a factor in any conversation I had. I moved back in 2012, and was shocked at how terrible UGA fans are. The fans are so horrible - second only to Miami fans in how bad they are. Walmart fans that were at my job would find out I was a Tech grad and were so incredibly rude and awful, when I was minding my own business. Even Walmart fans at church are still rude to me whenever they can be! Who does that? At church? Dawgs!

When I truly started hating the mutts is actually after I graduated,,, we were beating the mutts in a game, and Eddie Lee Ivery was running all over them,, He was known to be coming off a bad ankle, and about half way through the game, with a comfortable lead, the Ga defense got him down, and DELIBERATELY twisted his ankle, putting him out of the game!! They came back to win,,, we were watching with some Ga fans, and I told them that I would NEVER pull for the bulldogs under any circumstances forever!!!

so 4shotB,,,I feel your pain!!!

I was there for both games. In 2014 I was sitting right above the play, and it took so long I wondered when the play would be whistled dead and took my eyes off of it. Next thing I know is the Ugagger is running the other way with the stolen ball. Both those plays were ridiculous, but they even out. I was in Bobby Dodd for the 1999 Jasper Thanks game, too.

It was actually a small thing for me. I never liked them too much, but it turned to hatred on one particular day during recruiting, probably during the late '70s. Some Georgia HS yahoo was interviewed on TV about signing with UGA. The question was asked if he had considered going to Tech. With a sneer he said that NO ONE would seriously consider going to Tech to play football. That complete disrespect just flipped a switch.....

My father went to Tech. His brother went to Georgia. The year was 1994. I was a young boy, about 6. The two of them stumbled upon a couple of last minute free tickets to Clean Old Fashioned Hate. As they were leaving the house to head to Athens they looked back and saw the face of a sad boy, devastated that his two best friends were going to see the contest without him.

They scooped me up, and we were on our way. We traded our two prime seats in the cesspool for three lesser seats together, right behind the Tech band.

The eric zeier led dawgs proceeded to stomp the living day lights out of us. I yelled at the top of my 6 year old lungs to urge the Tech band to stop playing for the wrong team. My Uncle, seeing an opportunity, persistently nudged me to root for the inbreds, and I refused, over and over again.

My only response, trained from birth:

“TO HELL WITH GEORGIA!”

He never tried to sway me again.
