What is with all this continued nonsense that the cupboard was bare before Kirby arrived? Here are the last 5 class rankings prior to Kirby's arrival:
2016: 11
2015: 6
2014: 7
2013: 12
2012: 12
Average: 9
This year: 3
By way of comparison, this year georgia got a combined 16 commits 4* or higher. #9 (their average ranking over the last 5 years) this year was Florida, who in this class had a combined 15 commits 4* or higher. Nobody with a straight face can say there is really that measurable of a difference for most of the top 15...especially when you consider that many of these guys will be backups and definitely not see the field in 2017 barring an injury (eg 5* QB Jake Fromm backing up Jacob Eason). Plus, a third of georgia's 4* commits were 0.1 point away from being 3*s. Some of these ratings are like splitting hairs.
Florida, Tennessee, and South Carolina (at least) will all put up a strong push to win the SEC East. Sure, georgia could win it, but there is literally nothing measurably different about the 2017 team than there has been for the last several years. Hell, they couldn't even beat Vanderbilt last year at home and would have lost to Missouri if not for a late miracle turnover gift. They also have to play @Auburn this year, which won't be any cake walk.
Even when the media tries to be critical, they still can't do it right.
