In terms of IN PERSON 2015 FSU, 2014 Clemson, and 2023 UNC are at the top of my list.

Most of my favorite games I wasn’t at either bc I’m too young or it was on the road.
oh I also forgot 2009 VT. But I was like 3 so besides ALL THE WAY TURNT UP I don’t remember it that well.

Nice! It’s hard for me to top 2015 free shoes.

My wife got us Tech Terrace seats for that game for my birthday, and in a span of about 72 hours, that game happened, I got a big promotion at work, and we discovered she was pregnant with our first born. What a time to be alive, haha!

1990 UVA game was magical. If it’s one game, it’s this one.

2009 FSU game was great to break through the lock they had on us.

Jasper Thanks was a great game.

1985 against Tennessee was half a game; we played great defense.

I think it was 1999 against Clemson that we won with a long bomb diving catch—was it Watkins?

The Goose is Loose game.

So many great games, but oddly for me was the 1980 3-3 victory over at the time #1 ranked Notre Dame. Our record was horrible and the program was just awful. Local sportscasters were saying we shouldn't even be on the same field with Notre Dame. A very hard hitting game by the Tech team.
This is a sample of our 1980 schedule. We were still playing as an independent.
  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • North Carolina
  • Tennessee
  • Auburn
  • Notre Dame
  • Georgia (Georgia played Notre Dame for the National Championship)

My neighbor had a parlay card-pick ten games to beat the spread for each to win. The spread for Alabama vs Tech was 55.

Fellow Jacket fans...
I am 38 and have been a Tech fan for as long as I can remember. As I reminisce on all of the great wins over the last three decades that I have watched either on TV or in person, there are so many that come to mind. I can't help but notch Saturday's win against FSU as one of my personal all-time favorites. FSU was ranked, it was in Ireland, College Gameday was present, it had a thrilling end, etc. There are so many reasons that it was one of my favorites. However, I think I would personally rank this one toward the very top because of what it has and will do for Tech moving forward. Think about it... a Week 0 game and all eyes were on Tech and FSU... This was huge for future recruits and transfers. It was also great for ALL of the fans that have stood by this team through the dark ages (CGC years).

It got me thinking...

What has been your personal favorite win as a Jackets fan (in person or watching on TV) and your reasons why?
Pepper Rodgers win in Athens Ga 34-14, a pouring rain at the end no one there but Tech fans.

For me personally it was the Jasper Thanks game, because I was at BDS in that electric atmosphere and because the moaning and carping, the great wailing and gnashing of teeth Monday morning here in Athens was music to mine ears. You never heard such righteous indignation in all your life.
A truly miraculous game!!!

While I wouldn’t qualify it as a ‘best’, last year’s game at UVA was therapeutic. It was the first time in a while we came out and simply destroyed an ACC foe. And did it in the house of horrors of all places.

2011 Clemson. The stadium was just so much fun that night. Epic Homecoming tailgate leading up to it too.

For games I've attended, nothing beats Jasper Thanks. Tears of happiness still come to my eyes thinking about it. After that, it would have to be the Citrus Bowl in '91, UVA in '98 (that comeback!), the Goose is Loose in Athens '00, and Athens again in '08.

Does anyone have a list of games where we tore down the goalposts? That would be a fun list to develop.

1991 Citrus Bowl vs. Nebraska.

After that in no particular order:
1975 GA Tech - ND
1977 GA Tech - UGAg
2008 GA Tech - F$U
2008 GA Tech - Miami
2009 GA Tech - VPI
2009 GA Tech - Clemson (both)
2011 GA Tech - Clemson
"....1975 GA Tech - ND..."

It was '76.... '75 was the Rudy game

This is a great thread:
(My GT fandom started the day I decided to go to GT in the Spring of 1999 and grew from there)
1. 2014 UGA
2. 2008 UGA
3. 2009 VT
4. 2005 Auburn
5. 2003 Auburn
6. 2014 MsSt
7. 2006 Miami
8. 2006 VT
9. 2016 UGA
10. 2000 UGA
11. 1999 UGA
12. 2008 Miami
13. 2008 FSU
14. 2009 FSU
15. 2005 Miami
16. 2009 Clemson ACCCG
15. 2009 WF
16. 2015 FSU
17. 1999 FSU in Tally (not a win, but a crazy good game, and my first seeing the Jackets in person - what an introduction)
18. 2004 Clemson
19. 2003 Humanitarian Bowl vs Tulsa (I got to play and PJ, my old lockermate, set a record)
20. 2006 Maryland

2024 FSU was a sweet win, but the rest of this season will give it more context to determine where it will rank.
