Zach Pyron’s 63.5 passing grade is the third highest for GT this year behind Sims’ @ UCF and vs. Duke.

Charlie and Ace played 86 and 85 snaps respectively, out of 88 total.

We had 11 hurries (Keion White with five) but only hit the passer twice all game (not including the one sack).

Our pass catchers didn’t drop a pass all game (I thought remember Jenkins dropping one but I guess they didn’t count it). However, they also didn’t break a single tackle all game.

This actually made me look a little deeper. In 141 completed passes their year, our pass catchers have broken just 16 tackles. McCollum has four of those, Carter with three.

There have also been 38 contested catch attempts this season, and we’ve come down with just 14 of them.

That is not correct. Jenkins dropped at least 2, Carter dropped at least 1, Leonard dropped at least 1. Maybe they are calling them contested, but they hit the receivers in the hands and were dropped.

Yeah drops are one of their subjective stats. They’re showing Tech as 1/3 on “contested catches” but zero drops. Not sure I agree with it either.

These don't make a whole ton of sense to me. Disregarding rankings of guys with <10 snaps because sample size isn't big enough. 3/4 of the best performing defensive players were on the DL and 3/4 were pass catchers on offense?!? I do not agree at all... especially for the reasons your latter post mentions. As a pass catcher, you have to make one defender miss after every catch, you have to catch contested balls, you have to run block. We have been poor at all of those. DL, you have to keep the LBs clean and catch blocks. Something we've done well for Key's first 3 games and failed miserably last Saturday

As I’ve (unfortunately) had to say about previous games, our “best” graded offensive players are essentially the best of the worst. Their grades weren’t super high or anything. And our blocking was horrible all game in both facets.

That being said…

E.J. Jenkins dominated again as a run blocker and caught a TD. It’s obvious Nate McCollum had a good game. No issues with either of their grades. You already said to ignore Benson because of sample size. Hall is a rb who played decently enough - no issues with his 69.2 grade. Harris had some great pass blocking reps and caught a first down, and his grade wasn’t that high to begin with (71.5).

For defense, Jason Moore was BY FAR the best player. He had a 75.1 grade, and Noah Collins was graded #2 at 68.3. And FSU’s QB threw for 400 yards with zero picks so I don’t know how we could expect our DBs to be rated well overall.

Had to look up Jason on RR.com. He's majoring in Nuclear Engineering, so assume walk-on. So yes, self-recruited. Pretty amazing that he graded out best. Not sure if that is good or bad news.
He definitely had a good game. He had one of our two batted passes at the line of scrimmage. He was also the only defender to force a fumble. Only one missed tackle. Tied for second on the defense with two “stops” and didn’t have a penalty.

I remember Collins saying that Moore was right behind Keion in terms of strongest defenders. And Moore still has three more years of eligibility after this season (and don’t think he’s a potential transfer :)).
