Thanks for posting this!

Douse deserves the kudos--he looked great.

It's nice to have Pyron in the top 5. Nate McCollum and Malachi Carter also had great games.

Is there commentary on the line play, and if so what's the gist of it? (Missing reads, technique issues, what?)

This game against VT was the highest team coverage grade (86.3) since Alcorn State in 2018.
Thanks again for these. It really was an all-around good game. We scored three TDs and 3 FGs on offense, and had 5 sacks and 4 TOs on defense. That’s a recipe for win (giving up a defensive TD and a special teams TD is not the recipe, however)

Obviously there are deeper issues, but Key commented that the flu bug had ravaged the line during the prior week; I think at least one starter was out for the game and others had limited or no practice. I can imagine that this could have affected our stamina and focus. Hopefully we will be in better shape for Miami.

Our overall team defense grade against VT (78.2) was the highest grade since 2021 vs. Kennesaw State (82.6). Prior to that, the highest team defense grades were 2019 vs. The Citadel (83.0) and 2018 vs. Alcorn State (84.0).

Through 10 games, our OL pass blocking efficiency grade (A PFF Signature stat measuring pressure allowed on a per-snap basis with weighting toward sacks allowed) puts as at #63 out of 65 Power 5 teams. Only Iowa and Nebraska are worse.

For the base special teams grades (i.e. non kicking/returning), Kaleb Edwards is the #2 graded player in all of FBS (124 ST snaps) out of 246 players who qualify.

Taylor McCawley grades out at #35 (141 ST snaps).

Billy Ward grades out at #242 (112 ST snaps).

Those are our only three players who qualify.

E.J. Jenkins is the #1 run blocking WR in all of FBS, out of 507 WRs who qualify. It’s not really close - the difference between E.J. and the #2 ranked WR in this metric is the same difference as the #2 ranked WR and #8 ranked WR.

Those both sound right. Also gives some pause into how worse it could be if we didn't have the #1 blocking WR, given no one else on the offense does seem to block well.
NE and Iowa's offensives are both pretty bad, not surprised to see they are at the bottom of the rankings.

Seeing this took me back to the issue I had in the Analytics thread that showed our D regressing with the VT game. Something isn’t right with the models.
