We just got kicked out of the stadium

It may be too late to reverse course on the new stadium, but they should've given students the rest of the north EZ, and turn the crappy seats in the south EZ into a general admission bleachers section with cheap seats. I'm specifically imagining if they sold no-resale tix with 2 beer coupons for $20 if you could prove you're an alumni...
The helluva block party has been attracting younger sidewalk fans. They leave the singer guy, get some tickets then try to join the students in south endzone.

Keyword is continuous. A lot of times it is not continuous, and curmudgeons just wanna whine.
Near continuous can be an issue as well. If someone is standing during every play that is basically continuously. There likely needs to be areas for those that want to mostly sit, we o have a lot of older fans who simply can't stand like they could "back in the day" some Family Areas where language is monitored and other areas where fans can go Bat &%$# Crazy!

Without the financial support of those old farts, Tech would be a Division II school.
Ok? My point is they are 70+ years old in bad shape. They're not going to hit anyone because they'd get charged with assault at best, and get their asses kicked and likely seriously injured/killed at worst if the other party decided to fight back.

Great, sidewalk fans are what this program needs. I bet less than 50% of Sanford Stadium will be UGA graduates next Saturday. And GT ends up sending way more post-grads out of state than they do.

I agree there. I think the OP was basically doing third and 4th downs and still getting whined at which I’ve had happen to me plenty as well.

Kicked out of section 214 for standing and cheering. We refused to sit down. Just snuck into student section. Please talk me into renewing again next year…:
I hate to say this...but when I saw the headline, I thought you did not see the game ending kick and thought it was good. Something similar happened to me in the famous "Jasper Thanks" game in 1999. When Georgia got down to the 1 yard line I disgustedly turned it off and as I was in Alabama at my in laws, I called my father in Atlanta to complain and he told me you better turn it back on. Just in time to see the field goal attempt by Manget get blocked.

I did this in the 2014 UGAg game, and went out to rake leaves. My daughter came outside and told me I needed to come watch. I got in just in time to see the final drive and FG. That team never quit either.

Lower west (and some of upper west) is full of some passionate old alumni. It’s usually the loudest part of the stadium that’s not the student section.
Lower west used to be where my parents sat. My father called it the "hanging jury" as they were seldom satisfied even with Dodd winning all the time. All of them were old alumni and cranky as all get out. I went with my parents once when I was in high school and this old guy next to us was quiet as a church mouse when Tech had the ball but when Tech was on defense he would get to muttering "Where you at Tech?" (My dad explained that he was a former player from back in the 40s and seldom played but on defense) On the other side of my parents was a relatively young alumnus who was screaming the whole time about the offense. When Dodd would occasionally kick on third down, he would get upset and scream "Damn you Dodd for kicking on third down" Fun times.

My dad used to complain about Dodd’s 3rd down punts. He knew Coach Dodd from his time as an S-A. Dodd tried to get him to play baseball instead of tennis, but dad told him no.

I give props to the LE. The last few times I’ve been in that area, including last night in 106, it’s been a rowdy bunch.

I’ve never been involved in a physical altercation involving watching a football game but the few times where it escalated close to this, were always with fellow GT ‘fans’ at Bobby Dodd because of this subject.
"never involved in a physical alteration watching a football game..." Boy, you have not lived until you were at a Tech/Alabama game back in the day. My parents and I were in the old North stands in 1962 thereabouts when an Alabama fan (young fellow) kept spilling his beer on the back of my jacket. I was 8 years old at the time and said nothing but my mother told him to quit and he yelled right back at her whereupon my much older cousin who had just got out of the Marines reached back and belted him one right in the face. My dad had gone to get the Atlanta police on duty and they hauled his *** out with him protesting his innocence. All to the good as we got to witness Namath throwing an interception to Birmingham native Don Toner to preserve a huge Tech upset of the number one Tide.

My dad punched a drunk UT fan who was harassing my brother, who was about 8-9 at the time. Also, I once got my marine uncle out of the Atlanta jail for poking a drunk UT fan in the hotel bar the night before the game. The similarity is obvious.

It happens. Hardly a Tech-UGAg game I’ve ever attended that I didn’t see somebody getting tossed.

My brother was in his 50’s when he got cancer, and had played mens league ice hockey up to that time, and I was in my 40’s at the time. He was no curmudgeon. To me, he was legendary.

Please, just a little understanding and less blanket condemnation might help the situation.

That’s fair and I probably should’ve worded better. But it is annoying to 1-2 a season get yelled at about standing on a defensive third down. And people usually don’t bring it up in a respectful tone or manner

I get all this, but I just don’t know why it can’t be settled like the adults we are… I think….

Sorry guys. Had to come back to this after yesterday’s game. I was in Athens and stayed for the entire game. Not one person in that stadium sat down other than tv breaks. That includes Tech and ga fans.

All you old farts who gave me crap about standing up at NC state last Thursday can kick rocks. Time to attract a more rowdy crowd to Bobby Dodd. The type who wants to make noise. Their crowd absolutely made a difference yesterday causing multiple false starts. We can do that in Atlanta if we allow more fans to act like actual fans. Good Lord we have some soft fans here…

Years of mediocre play and changing demographics at the school have made the football-oriented, younger alumni sparse. Doesn’t help that so many new grads take jobs all over the world as well. Key is doing a good job with the students so far, more sidewalk fans will also come with sustained success. I feel you though, I’ve been going to games since 2000 and the stands have always been filled with grumpy old Tech men. We need a change or a change in mentality.
