@Longestday The Triple Option you are unsure of looks like a Zone Dive to me.
It is also a great play to discuss the role of the Zone Dive because it is executed almost perfectly under perfect conditions. The Zone Dive is a "Constraint Play" whose purpose is to prevent the defense from stacking the perimeter to gain an advantage against the Triple Option; it is supposed to prevent the defense from only putting three defenders between the offensive tackles.
This picture shows that we have optimal conditions for the Zone Dive to put a hat on a hat and get Sims into the secondary.

At what point do you just block straight up and run at the M LB? If they are going to give 5 yards up the middle by backing up the MLB that far, wouldn't you just run it directly at him?

He can run down hill to stop the dive. If he guesses wrong we could go for a TD outside. Best place is 7 yards deep. 5 yards and you may get a knee full of OL.
