Dutch were beautiful. Mexico's problem was scoring early in second half and then not playing to lose. I think the Dutch could well will win out their side of the bracket. People talk about the low scoring futbol games and how there is no suspense. Quite the contrary, one can argue that close games allow for luck and bad calls to predominate. The call on Mexico which gave the Dutch a free kick is the perfect example. The call could have gone either way. Bottom line is you don't give the refs an opportunity to screw you.

Well, we are 2 to 1 or so underdogs today. (Actually USA has a 25% chance to win in 90+ minutes, and 10% chance or so to win in extra time.) I wouldn't be surprised to see the game go to extra time. http://linemakers.sportingnews.com/...betting-line-argentina-switzerland-prediction

Jozy will probably come in the second half if the game is close. Or put him in and let him go as long as he can - if the coach thinks he can last a half. But I think he is held back .....

Wow, just................wow

Southern European and South American futbol has always been my favorite for some reason. They value grace and agility. The women aren't bad either.

Life goes on. We took it to 1-2 in 120 minutes and never gave up. Belgium was the better team -- 38 shots on goal to our 13. I'll be rooting for the Dutch now.

If only my favorite (Italy with much more talent than the US) had played with the same intensity. I find soccer compelling in it's simplicity and potential gracefulness. Looking at the top teams left, they are some of the best. Even though a lot of goals aren't scored, you can see the best rise to the top.
