I credit a lot of that to UCLA patience at the plate. And X didn't give up ANY extra base hits while giving up 5 singles. Only 1 ER - the other run he gave up was on the pick off "error" which put a runner at 3rd. But X didn't stop trying to pick off players<img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/thumbsup.png" class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt="(y)" title="Thumbs Up (y)" data-shortname="(y)" /></li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Bartnicki was disappointing again facing 3 batters and throwing 3 strikes (3 of 7). After the walk he got pulled which again is lightning fast for Hall. Especially on Friday night.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Hughes was great after the first hitter who got a single and RBI - 9 BF and 2 Ks and a walk. Hughes can be so nasty, love it.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">English was English. 3 shutout innings, 2 SOs and no walks. 21 of 29 pitches (72%) for strikes.</li> </ul></li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">English represents the heart and soul of the team to me. <img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/thumbsup.png" class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt="(y)" title="Thumbs Up (y)" data-shortname="(y)" />Total grit.<img src="/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/thumbsup.png" class="smilie" loading="lazy" alt="(y)" title="Thumbs Up (y)" data-shortname="(y)" /> After fielding 8 innings, comes in and pitches at the elite level. We weren't swinging for the fences. UCLA made some great D plays, so we only ended up with 7 hits (2 HRs). Against most other teams, I think we get another 2 hits easily. Their in-field is so big and covers so much ground they will have great fielding stats again this year. Nick had a great bunt in the 10th to get the runner to 2nd. With his BA, he needs to be good in that phase and is.</li> <li data-xf-list-type="ul">Our in-field play was very good last night. Not just no errors, but we made a lot of hard plays against a very fast running team.
