We play Miami. Our defense is good and our offense is still “awful”. I don’t know who is starting between Sims and Pyron, but there’s a chance our offense looks good. Miami’s defense is “ok” and their offense is poor.

Tyler Van Dyke was supposed to be one of the better QBs in the ACC this year, but he’s had a bad season. He re-injured his throwing shoulder in the second quarter last week and had to sit out the rest of the game. None of their QBs had a good game against FSU. I don’t know what kind of shape Van Dyke is in for our game (unless one of you has news).

Two weeks ago, Miami beat UVA in 4 overtimes 14-12. Jake Garcia (backup QB) scored the winning points—a 2 pt conversion run. It looks like they beat UVA because they didn’t make the awful errors we did.

Maybe this is a nail-biter?

Louisville/Clemson looks like a closer matchup than I would have thought. Clemson needs to fix their QB position.

BC is an all-around train wreck. NCST is just a little weak on offense.

Duke’s defense is weak, but VT’s offense is weaker. Look for Pitt to get better against UVA

I didn’t expect to see Wake favored over UNC like this. It’s Wake’s great pass defense against UNC’s great pass offense, plus Wake against a very weak offense. I think Wake needs to hold serve on most any possession.

The UGA-MissSt matchup is a “can Leach pull off an upset and surprise UGA?” game. After the Tennessee beat-down, who is left on the schedule (but us)?

What happened to Syracuse’s offense? Let’s see if they come back. FSU seems all-around good.

I'll be shocked if we score 27 pts. That would be our best offensive performance all year. FSU took the top off their secondary with speed and kept possession with TE play and hard runs from their backs. I don't think we've got the ability to attack their defense like that.

Did you watch the VT game?

L'ville has become a sneaky good team. They have won 4 straight and 5 of their last 6 (their only loss being the one point loss to BC of all teams). All their wins in that stretch have been by at least 2 TD's and only against Pitt did they score less than 30 (24-10 win).

I think Norvell is getting FSU pointed in the right direction. They are hardly the dominating program they used to be but they are probably a Top 25 program at this point.

The UNC - Wake game could be a fun one to watch. I'd expect alot of points.

Rumors are Van Dyke is done for the season. Some Miami fans are pretty upset he played last Saturday as he re-injured his shoulder on a non-contact play and so they think he simply wasn't ready to play physically and never should have been put in the game.

Pitt-UVA will probably be a low scoring game. NCST's defense is likely to give BC's OL all sorts of issues and I like Duke over VT - Duke has had a really nice Yr 1 under Elko, they look like a well coached team and they are bowl eligible already.

In one non-ACC note, Lance Leipold at Kansas has already won more games in less than 2 full seasons than their last 4 HC's won in each of their tenures. Mark Mangino back in 2008 was the last time they had a winning record and the last time they won more than 3 games was in 2009 (5-7 Mangino's last season).

For you FEI followers:

Our defense is good. Miami's is OK. Their offense is bad. Ours is worse (but it includes the Collins games, so the offenses may be close to each other).

If Van Dyke is out for the year, Garcia's not bad, but his TD/INT doesn't look good.

Let's hope Leach keeps the players away from the plump girlfriends this time ;)

To hear the boys on Canes in Sight tell it, the Hurricanes are doomed. I don't pay much attention to the near constant complaining on that site but they just might have a point. Miami has been hit hard with injuries and to hear them talk it would seem that this has exposed the lack of quality depth at some positions, most notably quarterback. They claim that Van Dyke is hurt again and is not expected to play. IIWII A common prediction was a score of 6-5 in favor of Tech. TIC but perhaps not that big an exaggeration. I see a low scoring very close game. Stewart might be the difference.

Yeah, dude, Miami is better than VT...
Miami's season is going downhill FAST. Their performance against FSU was worse than ours. They had 8 turnovers against Duke. The have been hit hard by injuries.

VT meanwhile is actually improving game to game. They nearly neat N C State the week before us (lost by a single point) and then damn near beat us (not that we're great yet, but still...) The arc of their season is still slight improvement while the arc of Miami's is into the dumpster.

The only thing that matters to me is the arc of our season. We are playing better. I expect a tough physical game from Miami this weekend.

I agree, it’ll be another close game most likely. I would really love to miami fold under adversity late in the game and GT get an easy win for once but i’d be shocked if it happens.

This ESPN promo piece really put out a lot of good stuff about Drake Maye. If he is as accurate as the article says about exploiting the few errors a D secondary makes every game, then UNC should win.

Also UNC 16 of 21 going for it on 4th is impressive. No wonder they are ranked 15th.

How in the world Wake is a 4 point favorite (at home) while unranked just doesn't make sense to me either based on rankings. But it's a money line must be the answer.
