The thin line between winning and losing...

Last night was incredible. What a shot in the arm for our boys and our program. But it could have been another heartbreaking loss that left us all shaking our heads and waking up frustrated.

Coach Johnson says it frequently, but there really is a fine line between winning and losing.

Consider Pitt last week: what if he misses the 56 yard field goal? Perhaps we march down the field and make our own game winner.

2 weeks back vs. UNC, what if we punch in the goal line stand play? Or what if we actually catch the pass that was jumped on the goal line and it's a pick 6?

Up at Duke, what if we convert the 4th and 1 that we missed out on late? Perhaps we continue down the field and finish that drive and win.

Up at Notre Dame, what if we don't get the holding call on the TD scramble late in the 3rd Q? Perhaps that momentum shift allows us to finish that game.

Looking back to last year... the UGA game (the kick could have hit the beam, or they could have completed the pass instead of getting the pick, etc, etc)... the Georgia Southern game we got that tip overturned late that set up the final drive... the VT interception... the UNC loss could have easily been a win with a break or having the ball last... I'm sure there are more, but the point is that games frequently come down to a play or two at some point.

We have not played great, but the team is so very close to being 5-3 or even 6-2. Lets use the good fortune last night as a spring board to a great second half and hopefully a chance to continue the bowl streak.

I think when we look back on the 5 game losing streak, we'll see we lost to 5 9-win or better teams. Clemson could run the table, ND may go 11-1, and UNC, Pitt and Duke all should win 9+, Duke may win 10 or 11.

We lost to some good teams with an incredibly depleted backfield and tons of other injuries. At one point last night we had Vic and Brant on the field at LB because everyone else was hurt.

Winning last night certainly makes it easier to look at things objectively.
