What reason does PJ have to think Marshall will make a quarterback? Did he play it some in high school? From what little I saw of him, he is quick and athletic enough for the point guard aspect. Is there reason to think he can throw the ball?

He played QB all throughout high school, last I checked. But he was too good of a talent to have as 5th string QB when AB was so thin. Usually we see guys move away from QB, so if he's going to be giving it a shot he must be capable.

AJ was a highschool QB too. Took his team to the state championship.

I understand it was a Tug of War to keep him on defense.

TBH...some of the stuff he pulls off in that tape he'll get crushed trying to do on this level...as JeT found out this year. More quick than fast, and I'm sure he would be great in our rushing game. Not sure he's an improvement over Christian Campbell or Matthew Jordan passing the ball.

Will be interesting to see how this plays out during spring. DEFINITELY need sign a stud QB this recruiting class.

I know it's early and we've yet to see him play QB in practice for serious. But …

He reminds me a lot of film I've seen of Keenan Reynolds in high school. Not as fast as JT and only an average arm. Still, he has that je ne sais qua that makes for a QB who can turn any play his way. He'll have to get bigger to compete, imho, but he's got a lot of time to grow. This spring should tell us a lot.

??????? Justin 5'11 and Taquon 5'10. ????? 10 pounds difference and Justin two years older???? Same size as Doug Flutie who couldn't compete, I guess.

Taquan is bigger and taller than JeT.

Keenan Reynolds is a good comparison. If you watch him run Navy's offense, he's not extremely fast like JeT, but he knows the offense, and runs it like a wizard. I would take a Keenan Reynolds for our offense all day long.

Completely agree on this, but do we think TM can throw it like Reynolds? While Reynolds didn't have JTs athleticism he is a true dual threat. I hope we can get a Reynolds type to run our O.

I don't know about Taquan's passing...didn't see much on tape to think he was an improvement over MJ or Christian Campbell. I was actually impressed with MJ's HS tape in regards to passing. A lot of throws that required anticipation and accuracy. Most of Taquan's throws were of him scrambling around and finding guys open...not necessarily from route development.

Will be interesting to see TaQuan running our offense this spring. I have no doubt he'll be a weapon running our ground game, but GT needs a guy at QB who can run our passing AND running offense well. Hopefully Coach Cook and CPJ will coach these QBs up!

This is our delima, if we have a QB that can really pass we won't have capable receivers. If we have good receivers we won't have a capable passing QB. That's the problem with the TO.

I'm a little confused how what you described is a problem with the offense.

I thought I remembered him throwing more when I saw his tape originally. He really didn't throw but one pass over 15 yds that I saw.Not a good basis to think he can be a real passing threat.Give him a shot and lets see.I just don't think MJ is a natural instinctive QB-a runner yes,but a QB overall -no.
As I said before, Ratliffe getting hurt really screwed us up on QBs for '17..
