Doubt that. I see this thing on Twitter all the time now and I didn’t before. It shows up randomly on replies to tweets, photos, links, all kinds of things. If someone reports something that is offensive it gets removed. If it’s not offensive it is not removed.

That’s not correct. There is a middle ground for images and video which you saw in that tweet. Users can even opt into that on their own if they know they are posting sensitive material. None of this is new. My guess is more sensitive material is on twitter now with Elon there and maybe that’s why you could be seeing it more often.
In this case it's because the kid has a setting turned on that marks all of his tweets sensitive. Go look at his other tweets. This setting has been there for years and yes I had seen the exact same thing long before Elon got there.

I think it’s all the Russian bots pouring into it because of staff reductions.
I lose and gain double digit followers a day due to the diligence of the twitter staff. Certainly not my horribly offensive honesty driven takes and willingness to say what others are not.
I find sometimes there no correlation between the number of followers listed and the actual number of followers. Or, I’ve watched in real time as the number flips back and forth -adding two, dropping two, adding two, dropping two, but the actual profiles listed remain exactly the same. The bot thing, according to various cyber security reports, increased after the invasion of Ukraine. The previous spike was 2016.

You know, with everyone looking to be offended by someone or something, if there is even the least bit of perceived cover for labeling things as “sensitive content,” I would do it. In a heartbeat. Lots of people wanting to ruin lives over something stupid said on the internet (right or wrong). I would certainly welcome a disclaimer. Heck, I might even have a few T shirts printed up just so people know on a daily basis.
